what SSD to buy with 250 USD? Which ones are compatible with OSX?

how is intel ssd? does it have sleep problems?

The problem is not with sleep as this saves data to ram. The problem is with hibernation which saves data to the hard drive.

The intel ssd does not suffer from any hibernation issues but slows down over time. Thus after some time you will notice performance degradation.

Also @op, the hibernation issue exists with all sand force based drives regardless of manufacturer. Therefore the problem exists with corsair force, ocz vertex 2, agility 2 etc.

I read this thread and I am a confused whether this models of SSDs causes sleep or hibernate problem?

Kingston is an Intel that has different markings on it, but is an Intel X-25 (a few companies do this with the Intels, and probably other makers as well).

The Intel is slower than other SSD's, but it still beast the best of HDD's in most speed categories. It is also one of the most reliable SSD's on the market and it has been around the longest of current SSD's so you could argue that it has had more testing than other SSD's. I know a lot of people with them and they all seem happy. Intel is also about to release an updated SSD.

Thank you all for the good information you provided.

I live in Sweden and we do not have OWC here, at least I was not able to find a retailer selling OWC. on the other hand we have the OCZ, Intel, Corsair and Kingston available.

As I read here I should not go with Corsair Force Series because it causes the kernel panic and the Intel ones are slower than other. This leaves me with OCZ and the Crucial and Kingston.

From these three which one you do suggest to go with?

Thank you for the help.

Expect the chance of it with any Sandforce based SSD.

I meant does the issue with sandforce causes sleep problem or hibernate problem or both of them? I know that it causes at least of these two problems according to this thread but I am not sure which one is that.

I am sorry for the poor english.

Predominantly sleep but I myself had an issue with both. It isn't a big issue for most users as it only occurs if your computer does either due to you not using it for a period of time and it automatically goes to sleep. If you close the computer or tell it to go to sleep, you won't have a problem. Even before getting a SandForce based SSD, I had the autosleep/hibernate disabled.

My Vertex 2 will sleep no problem, no matter the circumstance. However, the one time I needed it to hibernate (I wasn't doing anything important, just recalibrating the battery) it crapped the bed and crashed.
