FWIW - after a few days of fiddling, I’ve settled on a Metropolitan face that I’m pretty happy with (thanx to poster “pup” for the rec):

Nice just color coded my Infograph watchface to all white and some green in the center.
Looks nicer then the mix match of colors i had before :D

They should have the choice of a simple number in addition to with verbiage. For instance, I'd like to just see my last pulse reading. The Apple version is a symbol - ok, but I'd like to just look at it. The 2nd party program I have used to have an option for just a number, but now it adds in how long ago it was taken. I really like one of the Nike faces and the lettering is white on a dark face with colored lettering. Bah.

The new complications are terrible for quickly glancing at my watch without reading glasses. Removing the old options makes the WatchOS 9 changes even more frustrating.
I was able to easily restore simple date and sunrise/set complications using Watchsmith app but it shouldn't require a third party app (including giving it access to my location information) to undo bad UI in WatchOS 9.

I like that face, but with poor eyesight, I can't read the date or the diary entry when I try it. They really should have left the larger simpler complications as an option.
Agree, it’s a little rough (I ended up changing the color to a very pale blue, which seems to help a little, but I still have to squint at the date).

New complications way less usable, and many far too small to read easily. On OS8 World time, the actual time could be read at a glance (R), On OS9 it is effectively unreadable (L) without squinting. PS I also hate the added colour which cannot be changed.

Completely agree that the OS9 made the utility face much less usable. World time as complication now shows the location very big, but you know which location you put in. You want to see the time at the other location in a big way not the location name. Somehow the watch face designer has lost the sense of utility.

Agree as well with all comments against colored complications on the utility watch face. At least Apple should made the color optional. I use the monochromatic look of utility for years as it looks simple and elegant. Getting color being shoved into your face without being asked is not a nice way to treat your customers.
