That’s a horrible decision. (I would also suggest you read the licensing agreements behind iOS to Have a better understanding of what the user agrees too.) Per your suggestion, NOT upgrading the software, you leave your device wide open for any other malicious activity like Spectre or meltdown.
For the record in this discussion, the OP stated Apple/iOS forces their 5s to upgrade, that is patently false.
I fully understood what the OP was saying. The question still stands that’s been posed by others in this thread, would somebody expect a five year old iPhone to have six month old iOS not have any performance issues at all? That’s not very logical.
That’s a horrible suggestion and Apple would never allow it for safeguarding reasons. (I would also suggest you read the licensing agreements behind iOS to Have a better understanding of what the user agrees too.) Per your suggestion, NOT upgrading the software, you leave your device wide open for any other malicious activity like Spectre or meltdown.
(See below quote you’re referring too). First, you are incorrect, there is no real helping in this situation, even more based on the OP’s replies given their defensive stance.
Also, Not even close to being snarky in my below post. I asked two questions that were completely legitimate to provoke discussion regarding the OP’s thought process, which not every post has to have precise answers to the OP’s concerns question. I suggest you reread through this thread to see the various responses, as I think your interpretation of ‘snarky’ is misconstrued.
