On Windows
J River Media Center is far better than iTunes.
What I want the Windows version of my computer player is to share music with others at work, and to play my protected songs that are on my iPod.
My home version (which has been on a Mac for a month now), I also want it to sync well with my iPod, which isn't large enough for my whole library. For that I'd prefer better boolean choices in its smart playlists.
Hmmm. More wishes:
Each iTunes should be able to handle multiple iPods better, and each iPod should be able to handle multiple iTunes better.
I'd like to have my songs on a removable hard drive which I plug in at work or at home to be the "native" MP3 source. Even sell such populated drives.
I'd like better display of lyrics as I play.
I'd like play counts of my songs to upgrade even if I play a song from my iTunes at work and then from my iTunes at home and then from my iTunes n my iPod - showing that I played it 3 times.
I'd like to group songs together as "usually played together", without switching to album mode.
I'd like to make it easy to replace a song within an album with a better version of that same song.
I'd like to have alias/shortcuts to songs - if I have the same song recorded in 3 albums, only store one on my iPod, but be able to play it in all three albums.
