I frankly blame it all on the Mac mini and the lower price of getting a Mac. Were Apple to raise the price of the cheapest Mac to US$3,000, I think most of this problem would go away.

Mac chavs irk me.

Part of the problem is words that are dirty in the US might be normal speak in other parts.

I know the large majority of us aren't mods here, but I'd still like to see a cleaner forum. If I wanted to post in a forum where the "youngsters are getting rowdy", I would have just gone back to the forum I used to post at, allowing them to suffer through my pointless posts, and better yet, my ridiculous shaving threads rather than you. :p

EDIT: Well, I should have said "Have you noticed any more rudeness on this board than say....last year? It's not just cursing.

I agree. Cursing in asterisks is pretty stupid, and certainly doesn't impart any useful information.

It reduces the reputation of MacRumors to have so many asterisk-curses hanging around cluttering up the forum. I don't approve, myself.

Ban them, I say! And yes, I agree that there seem to be a lot of very rude posters.

It is just bunch of ********s trying to get around the filter and ruin it for everyone.

Likely this thread will expose a few more words that need to be added to the profanity filter. :(

I hate people who use the words "heck" and "darn" etc.

The words are "Hell" and "Damn", also bloody, bugger, arse, etc. are not swear words.

In fact the whole concept of "swear" words is a load of crap - it's all so arbitrary, who knows, in 50 years Zune could be the next c*nt (even I won't say that for fear of retribution though I wonder why it's so much more offensive than cock, once again, arbitrary) so who knows?

I second that. They just make me flinch and say get with the times! The only people I think should be saying that should be little kids, like 10 and under. Or 13. We'll make it illegal for people under 13 to swear and we'll see how far that gets along with the no-spanking bill in CA. ;)

If they aren't swear words, then why do kids in school get punished for saying them? Even high school? I say, mind you under my breath and the occasional loud one, "swear" words whenever something bad happens.

The world doesn't make since to me anymore.. :apple:

We were never punished in school for saying any of them, we were only reprimanded for the usual four letter bombs.

Mind you, we're far more lax when it comes to what is "appropriate" or not, you can say "****" on morning radio/TV and anything goes after 9:30pm.

I think we should us IP filtering to block regional specific obscenities...

All of this reminds me of an Ice-T interview on Fresh Air, where the nice suburban white lady interviewing him was suggesting that at least in America he had freedom of expression-- his response was "*****beeeeeeeeep*****... and how many of your listeners know what I just said?".

Then there was the long period of time that Matsushita couldn't register their domain name because the Internet regulatory agency didn't like that combination of letters...

I don't think the number of rude posters has changed really-- there's always been a percentage that like to fly off the handle and bang on their monitors...

And MacBoobsPro-- you're cracking me up....
