I'm aiming to get there between 8 and 9am, for the 9am opening. If there is a queue of some sort, I'd like to be near the front; and if not, it wont be too long to wait on my own.

I will be in line around 9:30 or so - its a mall shop so I don't know if that is possible or not. I will be at the Ridgedale Apple store in Minnetonka MN

When they release the first or second update I'll check it out. Maybe. Besides, I know all of you "early adopters" will have plenty to say, both good and bad, here on MR. I will then make an educated choice. :)

I had originally ordered my copy at Amazon and was going to receive it on Tuesday. However, I decided that I wanted to at least once have the in-store experience of buying a new apple product so I canceled the Amazon order(I was using a gift certificate so no money was lost) and am going to my local store (University Avenue Palo Alto,CA) at like 7 or so and waiting in line when they open at 8.

ive NEVER understood waiting in line to get something you could get later in the day and not wait

Nor me - obsessive behaviour, and a little retarded if you ask me. Some people have VERY empty lives, so something has to fill the void!.

Oh, when it's an event, and you're there with friends, it's different.

I sold my Avs / Sharks playoff tickets to be in line for Star Wars III's opening night at the Continental in south Denver. Biggest screen in a 3 state radius. A bunch of guys and I had the day scheduled off for 3 years. We went down at 10 AM, which put us about 50th in line, and barbecued and hung out enjoying May in the Rockies while not being at work.

If the Avs won, it was on to the Red Wings, if they lost, I would have hated myself for missing the midnight show. If I tried to do both, they would have lost in OT so I would miss the movie AND have watched them lose.

Could I have waited and seen it the next day? Of course. But it was more fun this way. Hell, I ended up in the paper. :D

Sorry, that just reminded me of Triumph:

I don't need to click that one. I've been sent that link a few thousand times always preceded with "this is hilarious".

I got a lot of crap for it from people. I had a blast. I went to work the next day after being up until 4:00 AM between the movie and the drive home, and had a dopey smile on my face the whole time. And we both know that movie sucked. So it was just because of the event itself.

Relax, I'm not giving you any crap.

The link is bloody funny, though.

Hey guys, I was wondering what time people are planning on going to Apple Stores to pick up a copy of the new OS. The stores here in the UK open at 10am and I have never been to a product launch before so what time do you recommend I start queuing in order to be near the front (first 20ish maybe?).

I will be going to the Sheffield, Meadowhall store in the UK by the way.

Thanks

Don't you have mail order in your part of the world?

Never o'clock.

I won't be wasting any money on Snow Leopard. I will wait and see what a proper paid update will be, and might not even upgrade at that point.

I had a spare half hour so popped in to the Birmingham store and got it.

Probably will get round to installing it soon (well as soon as i'm not at work)

I hadn't any intention of getting it already, but I was driving through the city and picked it up this morning at ~9:45am. Victoria Square Belfast Apple Store. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Not too busy though. There were quite a few people in buying just Snow Leopard, and then the usuals playing on the computers. Just another business day in Belfast. :)

I am sitting in front of the Apple store in Palo Alto,CA and I am the only one in line. Either people don't know that the store is opening two hours earlier or they are just not coming till that time
