What time do pre-orders start

I was wondering what time for both pre-ordering and store opening on launch day. It would help when it comes time to pre-order.
However, according to the press release by AT&T, I would go through Apple.
"For greater convenience and faster delivery, preorders can be shipped directly to a customers home or business for delivery as early as June 24. Customers can also have a preorder shipped to their local AT&T store for pick up on or after Friday, June 25."

So you cant pre-order it, and go pick it up in the Apple store or Thurs, June 24th??

Just a reminder, last year, just like in 2008 and 2007, Apple will have more inventory than AT&T. Last year, AT&T had a real hard time with getting pre-orders delivered on "Launch" day.

For past iPhones I've had to get from AT&T store bc I am not the account holder, but rather an authorized user.
Would I be able to pre order and pick up from apple store then take to AT&T to activate, or have to do the whole thing through AT&T store again?

Did you read my post before that? That comment was in reference to a comment about my original post.
Read my post above regarding AT&T. Apple let's you pre-order and have it shipped so you get it on launch day or you can pick it up in the store.
I am not sure if it was the original iPhone or the iPhone 3G, but Apple gave me a little bit of a hard time. I am an authorized user on the account with the last four digits of the account holders social security number. I even printed papers from the AT&T website showing that I was. They still gave me a little trouble, but "allowed" it probably because they wanted the sale of two iPhones.
You can not order it at Apple and then go to AT&T to activate it. Apple does it right there. If they won't give you the phone and activate it, they will surely not let you purchase it at the discounted price. They are told what to charge you when they enter your account information.
I don't have an Apple store close to me. So what is the best chance to get it on June 24 through ordering over the phone with ATT or call my local ATT Store (which isn't my local its hour from me)

You can still order it from Apple to be delivered to you on launch day.
You can order from Apple or AT&T and both claim that you can receive direct delivery on June 24.
If you want to pick-up at the AT&T store then you have to wait until June 25. Also, as I posted above AT&T had some real issues getting phones delivered on Launch day last year for the iPhone 3GS due to the limited stock they received from Apple and the timing of their deliveries....
