For greater convenience and faster delivery, preorders can be shipped directly to a customer’s home or business for delivery as early as June 24. Customers can also have a preorder shipped to their local AT&T store for pick up on or after Friday, June 25.

Dave

Awesome! I'll get it shipped to my home, just like my current iPhone (First gen)

so I doubt I will be able to just walk in a buy a phone that day??

Will Best Buy, Wal Mart and Radio Shack carry them the first day?? Radio Shack had the Evo first day

iPads were 7am central
And we found that out a day or two before. I'm planning on something similar.

I am sure Best Buy will have a limited number on hand. The problem with Best Buy is that they usually have more stock of black iphones and more stock of 16 GB models than 32 GB. So if you are like me and wanting a white 32 GB model, your best bet would be to either camp out early or pre-order from Apple.

You can order from Apple or AT&T and both claim that you can receive direct delivery on June 24.

If you want to pick-up at the AT&T store then you have to wait until June 25. Also, as I posted above AT&T had some real issues getting phones delivered on Launch day last year for the iPhone 3GS due to the limited stock they received from Apple and the timing of their deliveries....

Here is the relevant quote from the AT&T announcement:

May I ask why you keep quoting me and telling me information that I already know/posted earlier in the thread?

I am not telling you information that you already know/posted earlier. I am providing a complete response to other posters.

So of your responses are rather short and cryptic and don't cleary explain that the poster can pre-order from AT&T and Apple for direct delivery on June 24.

Just because I quote one of your posts or a segment of one of your posts to provide context, dont jump to conclusions that the post is about your or the valitidy of your post. Just and attempt to provide a complete response so that the other poster(s) don't not have to ask multiple follow-up questions or search between pages.

If you don't want to risk being quoted or possibly miss-quoted in your view, then please don't post or lighten up....:D

How are my responses short and cryptic? I originally posted what the AT&T press release stated about the phone being available for pick-up and shipping to your house. Someone asked me a question regarding it, and i answered his/her question. This does not mean that my answer to that person goes for everything - just to his/her specific question.

Usually when someone quotes you, it is in reference to that person. I would not quote someone if I am referring to everyone. It does not make sense.

I am just saying that I posted something about the press release and you quoted me clarifying something that did not need be. My response to that person was not for everyone, just that person. Which is why I quoted him/her. I posted that in my opinion, I would go through Apple and not AT&T based on that portion of the press release (which I then posted).

However, you mention avoiding multiple posts, but you posted the portion of the press release that I did as well. I am not trying to start a fight, but I am not finding what you are saying as to making any sense in how I have seen people post on other forums as well as this one.

Just a reminder, last year, just like in 2008 and 2007, Apple will have more inventory than AT&T. Last year, AT&T had a real hard time with getting pre-orders delivered on "Launch" day.:(

Dave

You misremember. If you pre-ordered from ATT, it was waiting for you with your name on it in the store. No problems at all, in fact it was a very smooth process.

Who as "more inventory" is irrelevant with Apple's pre-order system. The inventory goes where it's needed. If you choose to just show up, well, take your chances where ever you feel like camping out all night.

if you order the new iphone online (from apple or at&t) and have it shipped to your home, how exactly do you make changes to your wireless plan? is it somehow part of the iTunes activation?

i currently have 2 iphone 3G's on a family plan that i would like to upgrade, but i also want to change my data plan. has anyone else had to do this before?

thanks!

So you cant pre-order it, and go pick it up in the Apple store or Thurs, June 24th??

That is for AT&T only.

See, L3MON asked about pre-order and Apple store pickup and you repsonded about "AT&T only". Both AT&T and Apple allow store pick-up, Apple starting on June 24 and AT&T on or after June 25. That's why I posted about the experience last year with AT&T supplies and their challenge with meeting Lanch day deliveries.

Read my post above regarding AT&T. Apple let's you pre-order and have it shipped so you get it on launch day or you can pick it up in the store.

Both AT&T and Apple allow pre-orders with direct delivery on June 24.

You can still order it from Apple to be delivered to you on launch day.

I will not tell you how to use the forum and how about you trying not to tell me how to post / quote or respond to any postes to the general forums. I explained why I quoted your response and the reason for providing context, you can like it or not  I guess you don't like it. :p

The changes be made via OLAM upon activation of your new iPhone I believe.

Are you not getting what I am saying? Now you are making me annoyed because what L3MON asked was in reference to my post above that. He/She even quoted it. So when L3MON asked that, I quoted him and replied that my post was only regarding AT&T.

I posted about AT&T and L3MON asked if that means we can not pre-order and pick it up for Apple. I then stated that that was for AT&T only, meaning Apple is not included in those dates.

Also, according to the press release, AT&T does not say that you will get it delivered on the 24th. They make it sound like you can or can not since it says "as early as".

glad to see that I can order the phone directly from apple and have it delivered to my home (120 miles away from the nearest apple or att store). Since it's an upgrade (on schedule), I'm assuming that they woudl jsut charge my card the $199 when the ship the phone and then I would set it up in itunes?

Sorry for the lame question.. usually I've been able to go into a store and do it all there.

It would basically be the same as if you were in the store, but just not waiting on lines. You will be charged the same (including tax and everything). I am guessing you are getting the 16GB since you mentioned $199? You would then just have to open the box and connect to iTunes.

Just make sure that you have all the necessary account information beforehand so you will not be delayed in any way. :D

getting mine through Apple Store and have it sent to my work. Can't do anything with it until I get home as my iTunes account is on my iMac and not my MacBook Pro. Regardless I will be useless that day.

I want to preorder, but I also need to make sure my corporate discount and bonus minutes on my account don't get messed up. I've heard some people had trouble with that last year at the apple store, anyone know if it was a problem for people that activated at home? I'm thinking my best bet may be to preorder from AT&T and pick up in store.

If you have FAN attached to your account for that discount there is a slight risk that Apple would have trouble. There are two types of accounts that with Corporate accounts: CRU and IRU. If you have a CRU and a few select FANs, you may have an issue but it will occur during the pre-order step when Apple tries to access AT&T to verify your account information.

You can test that now by going to Apple.com and checking your Eligiblity Status. Just enter your phone number, ZIPCODE, and your last 4 digits of the primary account holder's SSN.

Not sure what you mean by "bonus" minutes but if you are just talking about RollOver minutes and you don't change the rate plan, your Rollover balance will stay the same. If you really mean an invalid or expired SOC the provides "bonus" minutes, any account changes may remove the invaild or expired SOC.
