Otherwise, I’d wait for the iPhone SE4, which is likely coming next spring with a bigger size and bigger screen, using the iPhone 14 body and form factor, and will probably be powered by the A18 SoC and 8GB of RAM just like the iPhone 16, at half the price.
I came to that same conclusion this fall when looking to upgrade my SE2020. If reports turn out to be accurate , the SE4 will be a great option for me.

Yeah, if your eyes tolerate OLED screens and your hands are capable of using those 6.1” comfortably, then yes, the SE4 will be a dream iPhone.

I’m sticking to the SE3 as long as I can.

If you value efficiency don't buy anything Apple.

Literally every mobile and desktop iteration forces you to wait for animations to end before you can continue with only a few exceptions.

I use both a Pixel 9 and an iPhone 16 Plus, alongside my now low-mid range PC (5700x3d/3060ti) and my 16" M3 Pro Macbook Pro. Everything is significantly smoother, quicker, and generally more responsive on both Windows and Android. From setup I can go in and quickly remove all the junk I need to, even on Android you can pretty much gut the entire phone when it comes to apps. iOS is better now if you're in the EU for this, but the process is still a lot more cumbersome vs Android.

And again, you have to wait for fancy animations to finish before you can continue on iOS and MacOS.

MacOS is the biggest offender of them all, as it's a relic of an OS stuck in the past which sees minimal investment from Apple outside of adding gimmicky features to keep you in the "garden". Long gone are the days where things just work on MacOS and iOS.

The only way this will change is if Tim Apple leaves and they appoint someone with actual ambition to run the business. Not much chance of that happening.

The people who maintain the tropes about what Windows/Android used to be, and subsequently what iOS/MacOS also used to be, are living in delusion. The fact is even basic things like the monthly update, and even half-yearly feature updates on Windows 11, are significantly quicker to install than a simple security update on MacOS which sometimes takes half an hour for my M3 Pro to install.

Unfortunately many Apple evangalists are firmly stuck in the past and refuse to actually try other platforms out of fear or denial, and this only helps protect Apple's profit margins.

The worst part is that iOS and MacOS are now so poorly optimised that all of these slow but "pretty" animations are a stutter fest 90% of the time. Just try switching spaces with a trackpad and enjoy the sub-30fps mess.

I don't need bigger screen and I don't care about camera. But is 120hz making a difference in basic use like messaging, internet or music? And doesn't always on display drain battery so it's better to shut it down?
your not gonna notice 120hz for music, or messaging. Internet? maybe when scrolling if you look hard enough and you have 60hz and 120z side by side. I have MacBook Air 15 in, iPad mini, and iPhone 13 mini, all 60hz. iTs fine! I test drove a google pixel fold and the screen is 120hz and it's "fine". I guess its smoother like silk but its not something I miss since I returned the google pixel and the world is not broken 60hz is fine.

If battery is your concern and you’re also a minimalist, the ideal phone for you would be the iPhone 16 Plus.
