Head to a camera shop and ask for a lens cleaner solution for coated lenses.

They will probably sell you something containing Isobutlyl alcohol, or more commonly known as rubbing alcohol. It can be supplied coloured for safety or clear. (the clear is normally more expensive and concentrated but either is good, whilst they have a laugh at all the people who by "specialist glass cleaners for screens".

In the States it's known as Formula 23-H as classified by the US Treasury department, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

As for worrying about the coating on the glass, They naturally wear off over time anyway and in fairness are not that far removed from rain repellent coatings for glass windscreens.

Why all the fancy stuff like iKlear? Just use water and a cloth. Preferably a lint free cloth like the black one that comes with the computer =D

Works fine and doesn't cost money.. well, not really.

"Would using a a paper towl hit with two squirts of Windex help?"

I wouldn't do that!

Paper towels are to "coarse", and Windex (at least the kind they sell here) has ammonia in it -- too strong!

Instead, try some "Glass Plus". It's very mild and does the job.

And instead of paper towels, use toilet tissue -- much softer!

And be VERY CAREFUL about how much you spray onto the screen -- it might run down and get inside! Better to spray onto the tissue until it's moist, and wipe that on the surface of the display.

I usually get some eyeglass cleaners and wipe my screen. After that I put some water on the eyeglass cleaners and wet the screen and then use the other side to wipe it off, it cleans it very well.

Good ole H2O

I read the whole thread and just cleaned my screen with a little water and the black cloth that came with the Mac. -worked perfectly .

I wouldn't use paper towel, optometrists warn that products made from wood (paper towel, TP, etc) scratch glass . Use a SOFT cloth :p.
