I got horrible grades throughout high school (C average would have been great to bring home on a report card)
I still proved to the teachers and other "higher ups" that I still knew the material even though I didn't prove it on tests.
I coasted through elementary and high school, I dropped out of college and have a great job doing system administration for a rival company of this forum :)
Don't let grades (especially high school) get to you. No one will care in three/four years
Just try your best, show you are trying, and people will notice.

Easiest question of the day.

My answer: Study more and stay off the computer....

Study 2 hours take a 30 minute break and then study 2 more hours. Then you should be done with your work. That is if you really study during your study time.

If you want to make all A's or a higher GPA then you have to truly care about that more than anything. You will realize as you go on that it is a real sacrafice to make all A's and not some easy thing.

Depends on what he's doing with the computer. If he's playing WoW or IMing all his buddies, then it's an unnecessary distraction. If he's doing classwork, then it's a good thing.

I used to rewrite my notes every night after class and color code all the points that I thought were testable. Then I'd highlight all the same points in the text book and write down the page numbers of the book into my notes for reference. By the time it was time to study for the exam, I had it all memorized and the only hard part was slowing myself down during the exam to make sure I read the questions correctly.

Worked for me for highschool, college and graduate school.

same thing happened to me- straight A's middle school up through 9th grade, 10th grade I got one B per quarter, thus far junior year, i have gotten two B's first quarter, and will probably get one B second quarter.
Just accept that with taking harder classes, you are going to get lower grades.

My mom has been getting on my case about getting two B's first quarter, but it wasn't due to a lack of effort- between homework, extracurriculars, and work, I don't have as much time to study plus my classes are harder.

Don't worry so much.

Unless you get pregnant by a teacher, have a limb chopped off in woodshop, or have a car fall on you in autoshop the mental scars from high school will likely be longer lasting than the physical ones.

Of course as far as helping you regain your confidence, those B's probably mean you are slipping from a bright well paid future as CEO or CFO of McDonald's to manager of the local Burger King rather quick. :p :D
