I thought this was a pebble issue. I've had the pebble for over a year and it does the same thing.
You follow the same steps and everything is working again? Hmmmmmmm
My watch is at home still in its box while I'm at Disneyland. So Disneyland trumps apple in this case. Besides the fact I ordered at 12:01 but had an issue in check out. Took its time getting to me..
 
I see a major flaw in the recommendation.. I spotted the problem a few years ago and it seems to resolve quite a number of IT related issues.

The recommendation to 'turn the device on and off again' results in the device being in a particular and predictable state whilst 'turn the device off and on again' may result in a better experience.
 
I have found following to reconnect:
...place the watch on the charger and it reconnects.
...go to find iphone button on the watch and press a few times.
I do not find any need to do other suggestions!
