I have an last-generation white 24 inch iMac (2.16Ghz C2D, 7300GT, 3GB RAM) that I recently replaced and am no longer using. The internal HDD and optical drive no longer function, and the screen has some kind of liquid mark on the panel that won't clean off, but the spots are minor and do not affect the visibility, just the aesthetics.

That said, the motherboard is still working great as are the graphics, WiFi, bluetooth, iSight, etc, so I think it would be a waste to throw it out. Hooked up to an external HDD to boot from and it still runs great.

It's very heavy though, so it doesn't seem worth it to put on eBay or otherwise have to deal with shipping. I personally have no use for it though, so I need to get rid of it one way or another.

Is it worth the trouble to dismantle it and sell out the parts? What else can I do with this aging but still useful machine?

If you don't want to ship then craigslist. They are a pain to open but you certainly would get more money parted-out and the parts would be easier to ship. It's an effort, however.

PS. Try a feeler thread in the Marketplace forum. You never know.

I will take it off your hands for nothing and I will gladly pay shipping. Unless of course you are in the UK.

If you are in the USA, just PM me. I will send you cash.
