FFTT macrumors 68030 Sep 5, 2006 #3 Having an emergency recovery, drop in drive could be very handy. Before you replace the drive configure it with everything you need to get up and running again, just in case.

That's what I did after my iBook went up in smoke. Threw it down the garbage chute 2 weeks before Apple had the massive logic board recall. The hard drive is still kicking though.
