I've had my USB pocket drive for a while now, it comes in pretty handy transferring documents and programs to and from school.

At my school we have Macs running OS 8.6 to 10.3.x, and Windows machines running 98SE, 2000, and XP.

Every time I plug my USB drive into an OS 8.6/9.1 Mac, it creates all these hidden files, and the same with OS 10.2 and up.

The files are all over the place, they are most commonly named .DS_Store, and Finder.dat.

I find these very annoying, and was wondering if there is any way to avoid these hidden files? What do you people do to try and avoid them?

I use a flash USB drive all day between a PC & various Macs (for reasons far to tedious to explain here).

Although those files can be annoying, especially viewed through a Win2000 PC, I just try to ignore them... not much of a strategy, I know.

I just figure that they're there for a reason and the thought of constantly trashing them is just as annoying.
