My kids were using my old 2012 Mac mini/Thunderbolt Display until they received a 27" iMac for Christmas. I kind of don't want to sell it but will entertain that option if it's just going to sit in a box. I'm wondering if there is a use for it that I'm not thinking of. It's a late 2012 version, 1TB, i7, 16GB and an external 500GB SSD.

If I can't find a use for it, what do you think I could sell it for? The only thing I can think of doing with it is letting them bring it to their Mom's house so their have an Apple computer there.

You can get around €450,- for it now, which is nothing. I've decided not to sell it and keep it around as a backup Mac. My 2012 Mac Mini has been the most reliable Mac I've ever had. When my 2015 iMac 5K broke down (bound to happen at some point) I still had my trustworthy Mac Mini. It's probably more reliable then the 2018 MM I have now.

Unless you really need the money, it might be worth saving as "a backup Mac".

Or, set it up someplace out-of-the-way for "occasional use". The fact that it's set up and "there", just waiting to be turned on, may create new reasons to use it...

File server and MDM server using Apple Profiler. You can manage all your family's iOS and Mac devices from it. Use it as a TC backup, internet caching server, etc.
