Mat Black 256gb

I ordered the above iphone off Apple website for ATT Next. Discovered a couple days ago it went thru as a regular purchase and my credit card was charged for the full amount. I still owe 350.00 on my current iphone. I am not keeping the iphone. I know I can return.

But, would Apple Store let me return iphone, credit my charge card and since it is now back in inventory, let me repurchase on ATT Next. I know some Apple employees frequent MR. So, looking for options. Kinda want a game plan before I go to store. I looked at iphone and powered on. It is ready with my cell number on screen to activate on ATT. Not sure if I can sell that way.

Thanks for any advice, other than just take it back and see what they say. Just seeing if any other options are out there. Doubt it.

They should be able to. Your att account will reset within a few minutes after the return and you will be able to purchase on next.

Will take iPhone in tomorrow. Hope to keep. Looks very good on outside and screen doesn't seem to be yellow tinted. Wish I could have gotten pass the activation screen.

Can I even sell this iPhone to someone with my phone number coming up on setup screen in the turn-on/activation process. You can't get pass that page without hitting Next.

If it's already open and you want to sell, just activate the phone and swap the sims (I think thensin that came in that phone will take over the old sim). Then just wipe the phone and sell it like that. You don't even have to take the Plastic off.

As far as I know Apple will not allow returns and rebuying the same phone under a different purchase agreement. This may have changed but I tried to do something similar a couple of years ago at two different stores. I was told that at launch they keep different inventories of things and is also the reason why in store pickup doesn't always jive with stock they have for walk in buyers.

Thanks I may just return. But would need current sim taken out. Right. Than my number should be gone.

If I am not mistaken apple simply links the imei and serial to your account just for simplicity sake. The son currently in it is just a "blank" sim unless you activated it already.

If you plan on returning you need not remove the sim (again, if it was ever activated). Of course, nothing bad will happen if you did remove it. I'm sure those sins are just destroyed when returned anyway.

Returned it. Sim wasn't blank. They had to activate it to verify IMEI/Serial #. Then they put that sim in my current iPhone and gave me my old sim back. So, iPhone has new IMEI. Things seem ok with iPhone and nothing on my ATT site about exchange. Will see. Need to rethink my purchase now. They couldn't put me on my current ATT Next plan after I returned the iPhone.

Thanks for your help. :)

You could probably sell it on Craigslist or fb for more then $350 if it's a 6s

So, iPhone has new IMEI.

I know you already returned your device and everything is all good, but your current phone does not have a new IMEI. It has a new ICCID. ICCID is the sim card number, IMEI is hardware number. That is phone specific.

Yeah, you are right. IMEI is hardware. Wasn't thinking. The Apple rep mentioned that and I didn't really think about it. In my defense coming off shoulder surgery and a heart attack all happening within two days of each other last month--:)

I think at this point I may wait for the 8. Not happy with the screen on the 7. May play with them some more in stores ( screen adjustments) and wait till my ATT store gets some in stock. Not sure I want an edge to edge screen that the 8 is rumored to have. I did leave the store with a new leather case, replacing the silicon one I had or quite awhile.
