Now that I have a 2018 mac mini, what do I do with my 2011 Mac Mini?

I thought I'd install windows on it, for the couple times I need something in Windows.. but appears Windows 10 doesn't have any Intel HD 3000 drivers, and Windows 8.1 copies hard to come by.

So then I thought Fedora? See what Linux desktop is up to!

What are others doing?

Im going to use my 2012 i7 2.3GHz 16GB w 2-128 SSD drives as long as i can.
Works like a champ but starting to lag in some tasks still runs a few small vm's for tinkering.

I'm going to keep my 2011 Mini as a Time Machine Server and a Web Server as well as a back up. It's worth more to me than what I could probably sell it for.

I'm selling my 2012 for $100 less than what I bought it for 6 years ago.
I'll bet it's an i7 too. ;)
[doublepost=1542782837][/doublepost]I'm keeping my 2012 Macs when they get replaced with 2018s or newer. They are nice machines and make good back ups in reserve if a newer machine goes down. When I finally decide to part with them they will go to another family member who needs them. I like to keep my PCs longer than 10 years.

I will continue to use my 2012 server as long as it lasts. It has 2.3 i7 quad core with 16 ram, 512 Samsung ssd and 2tb internal disk. It is fast enough to use it as an ocasional vídeo editor, media server, file server, backup server and cache.

Besides the new Mac mini does not work with my Apple Thunderbolt Cinema Display.

I am about to buy a new 2018 Mini, (prob go for i7). Coming from a 2012 i5 mini it will be an upgrade. Not sure what I will do with the 2012. I asked my mother and my son if they wanted it and they kinda shrugged it off. It has a new 256mb SSD and a 1TB spinner and 16GB RAM. Thinking keeping it around as it could be more value to me later as a server or something than selling it. Also re-applied thermal paste, runs so much cooler now.

It can stream Netflix, YouTube or other stuff to your TV.

My old MBP will be maybe used for this purpose. My TV cannot connect to Internet, so, I will use it for media streaming to my TV.

Media server for another room in the house? Put it in the kitchen and use it for recipes and wine lists? Home inventory? Home security?

Will set mine up as a headless server. Working in front of it is a no-go now that I am spoilt by a faster machine. ;)

I'd hand-it-down within the family but their preference is all laptops and tablets.

I’m working on a config to use old minis to get around Comcast datacaps. Basically connect them to Comcast hotspots for dedicated downloading.
