I worked so many overtime hours for just one purpose.*to buy a new Mac.
This is going to be a work machine.
1. Air or Pro ?
2. Used or refurb ?
3. Or just search for the best new deal?
4. My budget is $1000
5. As a Chef I have to use EXcel
6. Also my company uses software that only works on internet explorer so I will have to use Bootcamp or a VM machine.
7. Overtime hours on a 55 year old are very hard all help will be greatly appreciated, please and thank you.

First, help me understand something - the concept of working OT so that you can purcahse work equipment. Shouldn't your employer be supplying this?

Second, if all you need are Excel and Internet Explorer, I say get a cheap Windows clone from Sams/Walmart or wherever. Dell has a $299.99 model, not including monitor - that even includes "Microsoft Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word and Excel with ads. No PowerPoint or Outlook." I imagine there are other sources of even cheaper PCs.

But really, I think your best bet is to find another employer to be a chef for.
