I currently have a 2.66 Macbook pro 13 inch Refurb. I paid 1349 CAD for it. For 1449 CAD i can get the following
Processor and Memory:
Intel® Core™ i7 quad processor 720QM 1.6 GHz (6 MB L2 Cache)
6 GB (shared) DDR3 SDRAM, upgradeable to 16 GB
Drives:
500 GB Serial SATA, 7200 rpm
External CD-RW\DVD±RW dual-layer super-multi drive with 2 USB ports
Display and Graphics:
15.6-in. TFT full HD LED HP display with Ultra BrightView™ technology, 1920 x 1080 (native)
1 GB (dedicated) ATI Radeon™ HD 4830 graphics
6 cell plus 9 cell Battery

I really like my macbook pro but i find the resolution to be a little too low.
Im a student and i use my laptop for 6-8 hours everyday
Any input would be appreciated.

you'll need more than 2 batteries

This new notebook will have Windows on it, yes?...just sayin' :D

It's very easy to get a machine with better specs than a MBP for a similar price. It's up to you if you feel your current machine doesn't meet your criteria.

Btw - he said he used it 6-8 hours/day....he didn't mention if he had access to a power-outlet during some of those hours.
