I would expect that, probably 36GB though. If M4 iMac with 32GB memory released, day 1 buy. Wife loves iPad mini, so new version is also day 1 buy.

I have to think that will happen. The EU deadline to have all power connections as USB-C is coming up at the end of December. I can't see Apple waiting much longer to make that change.I really hope so, they should have switched years ago.
I'll be shocked if the iPad mini doesn't have an A18 in it.If not an M-chip in the iPad mini 7, I might skip it.
Or buy an iPad Air instead, or being fine with my iPad mini 6?

They made an event for the iPhone 16 too.If it's just a bump in chips and slight changes in hardware, I don't see why Apple would make an event out of it.
All we can hope is that Apple does increase the base SKUs RAM from 8GB to at least 12GB, but hopefully 16GB.
I have been calling for that for years. It would be even better if the monitor included a bit of supplemental cooling. If you turn a Mini on it's side, you will disrupt convection, making it run a bit warmer. How about displays come with a slot on the back so the smaller Mac mini can clip on - obviating the need for iMacs?
I could seriously use a few M4 Studio Ultras that have a good 128 GB of RAM or more. I am having to farm out way to much of my computation to AWS. A Studio Ultra or three with lots of RAM could save me a small fortune. Both the previous base M2, M3 SoC's offered 24GB max unified memory, seems the right time for the base M4 to support 32GB RAM finally. The problem is that Apple deliberately teased us all only using a M4 with 16 GB in this May's IPad Pro's, it's been a lot of biding time to find out the true specs concerning M4.![]()

I don’t think it will ever be cheaper since the miniaturization is more expensive.I like the form factor of the iPad Mini, but I do wish it was not necessarily a premium iPad -- or at least that there was a more basic iPad in that size, something that comes in cheaper than the basic full-size iPad instead of $150 more.
Anyone remember the PowerBook Duo and the Duo Dock? With a 33 MHz processor and 8 MG of RAM, you could make a great usage of your 200 MB hard drive! How about displays come with a slot on the back so the smaller Mac mini can clip on - obviating the need for iMacs?
