Patiently waiting for an updated Apple TV. I feel like this is something they can just release without the fanfare. It's not like they're using chips in the next generation that haven't been released yet. If they're waiting for a Siri revamp and or AI integration, you'd think that would just require a software update when that's ready. I am just impatient, I guess.

Lower your expectations of Apple to ZERO and you will never be disappointed.

Ever since early last fall, AI has been delayed to 26.4. But the number 26.4 could be up next if 26.3 is released next week after the extended efforts of beta 26.3.

So standby for them to say 27.x or some other way out there number is when it might be operational. AI has been kicked down the field so many times that even an average person will able to discern the stench of bovine byproducts once again.

Just the unknown or the unknown innovative things?
everything "unknown", besides, whatever it is that Apple might (or not) call "innovative" (as TC mentioned in the earnings call) - here on MR the reaction will be: "lame", "this is not innovative", "years behind the competition" and such and, to not forget: "Apple is doomed"

Judging from the lack of responses here, does anyone even use Siri? Seems like the best way to go forward would be to put her to bed, for good.

Why did Apple have to choose Gemini? Honestly iMO It’s the worst AI out there. Can’t they give people the choice like they do with the browser?

If a more personalized Siri is relegated to iPhone 15 Pro and newer, we can assume iPhone 15 and older will still tap into current Siri. Right?

But if you're using a 15 Pro or newer, it would be very unApple of Apple to offer you an either/or option. That's not how they typically roll. We'll know more within a few weeks.
I was hoping it might work like the call out to chatGPT we have today.
You can switch that off and still control your lights. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I just want to know WTH was happening at that LA preview this past week. That had to be something that will be announced in the next week or so, right? That wasn't JUST "how to use our new creator suite," right?

Apple has never actually promised, for what it would be worth, that any of this is coming in 26.4 or even Spring.

If you listen carefully they have hedged their bets ever since the delay. The only thing they have really said is 2026. They say things like “in the coming year” and “this year.”

I’m going to bet now that there’s nothing in 26.4 and the first version comes in 27.

As long as I can keep any form of AI and Siri turned off on all of my devices going forward, I will be happy for everyone else who might want those features. But should Apple decide that people like me just don’t understand (believe me, I do) and that they must force me to have AI and Siri activated (because of course I will be pleased) is the moment I leave the ecosystem. We are now living in the moment that technology has become intrusive.
So then buy a TCL flip phone if you don't want a smartphone.

That’s a straw man argument and you know it. We’re not talking smartphones vs old-school flip phones. A smartphone is fine. I just don’t want AI and a “helpful” Siri getting in the way. There is NOTHING that either offers consumers right now that I want or need.

So we are solidly into the year 2026 and the iPhone 17 model year. Most of Apple's operating systems are now on version "26.x.x) whose main claim to fame is"Liquid Glass". Only if it is turned to "clear" can I see most of the icons. Siri is working just like it has for many years - very elementary requests or commands may work.

Just a chip change (M4 to M5) is not a new design. More like changing a 4.6L V8 out for a 5.7L V8. Same vehicle if nothing else is changed. Or as we used to say, "Screw things up quicker!" since so many significant issues still remain in core components of the operating systems.

The operating systems on all of Apple's platforms are getting fatter every year thus requiring more base memory and SSD storage. The days of programming in Assembler to keep the program image as small as possible are but a memory for we old timers.

I have lived through getting weekly software updates for a multi thousand page accounting application source code, often having to patch the patch from last week as they found fixing it here screwed it up there.

Apple's focus is now too defused and they have lost the plot on what is their core product and how does it work correctly ALL of the time. The best computer in the world will not work with less than stellar software.

Remember the old phrase "GIGO" which is "garbage in gets garbage out". Seeing so many issues makes me wonder if there is an actually functioning Quality Control system anymore for Apple software which is written (we think?) here in the US. Most of the hardware is made overseas with fairly decent Quality Control.

Just saying Apple should be looking at that disparity and doing something about it.

Lip stick on a pig is still a pig.

In the meantime if I ask HomePod to play a specific song it tells me there is a problem with Apple Music but if I ask to play music it plays.
On top of that, it I ask Siri on Apple Watch to turn off a device in 20 minutes at home it tells me it can’t to that on Apple Watch, it was working 6 months ago.

They need actual intelligence at Apple, not artificial one.

Siri is so dumb that it constantly tells me there's an issue with playing a song on Youtube Music.

No Siri, the issue is you, the outdated viritual assistant.

That is why Gemini needs to replace the entire core of Siri's programming.

Low quality features like Siri should never be "The Apple Way."

It wouldn't surprise me if the first beta for 26.4 doesn't have the new Siri in it. Or if it does, it will be very limited in terms of who can use it. Likely in the US first. They're probably going to have to do a slow rollout of this in order to ramp up capacity on the backend.
Likely only working for media and influencers at first to get the buzz going.
