I actually hate this whole AI hype train. It looks like Apple have literally zero ideas besides going into this thing.
You took the words right out of my keyboard. AI is no longer an idea (even if you call it "Apple Intelligence"), and it sure feels like the Apple of yore would have had some new application for it rather than just deploying it under a new nom de guerre. The question should not have been "How do we catch up to this?" but "How do we create something with this?"

It didn’t take me long to turn off apple intelligence in 18.2 due to the overheating, battery drain and lack of anything I personally found to add value to my iPhone. I’m sure others get better value out of 18.2 than I do, but for now I’m happier to have a cooler, quicker iPhone than a more “intelligent” iPhone.

I mean, aside from the joke about asking Siri where the best place to bury a body was, I've never had a positive experience with it. I usually just turn it off and disallow it scraping my apps.

When I can run it locally, without it querying a remote server, then I'll re-evaluate it again. If I can run Llama 3 locally already, then Siri shouldn't be that far off.

I turned AI off and I only miss the new Siri animation.

Will be good if all the devices supporting iOS 18 are able to run 19. Not so sure about any major changes other than many more Apple Intelligence features that remain exclusive to 15 Pro and newer devices.

I thought iOS 18 when unveiled touted a more “GPT like Siri”. Also thought it would be available on the just released HomePod at the time. Not like AI wasn’t in the works before the HomePod re-launched. It’s not like I’m switching to android yet but I’m just so incredibly salty with Apple lately.
