So to summarize the Friday news,

More fees, more ads, everything is more expensive, and everything is a subscription.

iOS updates are always relatively minor, and new emojis are the standout feature.

Now I'm just waiting for Apple Savings Account APY to be lowered again.

That's the news from every Friday in the last...what five years at least? Ten?

Truly, we live in an age of wonders.

The bad part is that the delay only will magnify the shortcomings. The features that have been delayed and overhyped sound mediocre at best. Maybe it can and will do far more than what we envision at the moment… but I doubt it. The pace at which Siri is falling behind is accelerating. Even if they nail this version of Siri, I don’t see how it still won’t be two or three years or more behind the competition.

It would be a truly positive innovation if Apple were to eliminate all emojis except for, say, 10, and then make them all yellow-skinned, just like when it all began!
Nah, we need emojis for lawnmower and things so just having ten is out of the question. Am here for the yellow-indication of emojis however. That is definitely a good idea 👍. A white thumbs up, a black thumbs up… that’s definitely not the best use of software and loses the potency and meaning of the symbolic nature of emojis. It’s not the skin colour that’s the point of that emoji, but the meaning behind the gesture.

Looking forward to trying out the improved Siri. Treasure chest emoji is a nice one. Checking integrity of device before logging in is a good security measure. Other than that there is nothing else to see with the update. I will update after a few days of release.

No thanks. I’ve had enough of new „features“ from Apple.
Just fix what is broke. That’s a long overdue „feature“. But yeah, that’s what iOS 27 will do, so we have to life another 9 months with what we have right now.
Thanks Apple. Luckily I never pay full price for your hardware, I’d be even more disappointed.

This is just embarrassing by now. I've said it before, and I have no problem saying it again. Fire the entire software department at Apple, including the managers, the department heads, etc...just everyone. And hire an all new clean slate. This is just ridiculous. You know those people get paid huge paychecks at Apple and this is the best they can come up with? They should seriously be ashamed.
The people who write the code don’t typically determine what the new features are. They also often do not do the final testing themselves. There is a huge learning curve to understand someone else’s code. I understand the frustration of bugs, but I don’t think your solution is the correct solution.

Also, this is an article about new features expected to be released. Right now they’re just rumors.

Family woke up to find ios 26 inserted onto their phones. What a cluster. Shame there is little else to choose from. Suck it up and call it better, even if life becomes a little bit worse.

It's interesting how the big companies, Apple, Google, Microsoft are all cooperating and in emergency mode because of the AI revolution. The next 5 years are going to be amazing.

I don't see how Siri can be great any time soon.

Look at all the problems with Gemini and ChatGPT et al. That's as good as anything's gonna get for the near/mid-term future. Siri won't be any better. Keep expectations low.

I think what consumers want out of Siri is human-level intelligence and that's probably gonna be a while.
