The Costco 200 deal with two years AppleCare made me bite. I don’t think I will upgrade until the AppleCare expires.
I tried the AirPods Pro 3 when they first came out but returned them within a week because I couldn’t tell the difference from the 2’s. Not sure what little cameras in my ears will do to improve their performance. Maybe an ear wax buildup warning 😊

I’ve been really happy with the APP3; they stay in my ears perfectly and I find them very comfortable. I can wear them all day until they die and barely even notice them.

Could the new model also be designed to include cotton swabs? The headphones could first scan my ears and check if there’s any dirt, after which they could clean it.

Not sure whether it will launch this year. Should have better audio quality along with IR sensors which should enable new gestures or accessibility features.

Improved microphones for calls, improved bass, improved battery life, better algorithms for noise cancellations and that's it what's needed.

As an AirPods Pro enthusiast who loves them, a new version with cameras scanning my environment with finicky motion controls sounds awful and I’m not interested in them at all. I just want good battery life, excellent noise reduction, good controls, great sound, good fit, and the ability to easily find them. The AirPods Pro 3 meet and often exceed all of my specifications.

I only wear them when I’m exercising, going on walks, and sometimes while I’m working. I’m not going to wear them all the time to scan my environment with AI. Screw that.

These don’t look to add anything but price. For that reason, I bet they offer them in black to get a lot of us to upgrade, lmao. The cameras creep me out though, and I prefer physical controls.

Hopefully... a better tip design and alternative options for those who are unable to retain them in their ears.
This. I bought these in the winter and they have been awesome when wearing a beanie but they do not stay in my ears in any of the tips and I have to push them in every 20-30 seconds. The previous design was much better and I'm sad if they keep this new one.

ps. if anyone has found aftermarket tips that might fix this, please let us know!

Infrared cameras in headphones? I don’t know what they are smoking at Cupertino but that’s definitely not a legal substance😑

For me the noise cancellation on an airplane is what sold it to me. I had the APP2 and I could still hear quite a bit of noise with the ANC one. With the APP3 I could only hear the captain on the intercoms. I had no clue the flight attendant was talking to me asking what drinks I wanted until she started waving her hand, it was an “oh” moment and I took them off to reply to her. Totally sold me.

Also depending on your ear shape, for me the APP3 fit perfectly like idiot proof, where as the APP2 I had to put them in then angle them.

In general it’s not a bad idea to take one of the AirPod hearing test to see where one is at hearing wise.

I think Apple will just call these upgrade AirPods Pro 3's the AirPods Pro 3 Plus, since the functionality added will not be significant outside of tiny IR cameras. It may get a slightly bigger design and a new carrying case to accommodate the bigger earbud design.

Unfortunately the APP3s are so uncomfortable for me that I had to return them. I'm currently on a pair of APP2s that I'll try to keep going as long as possible, and until Apple releases APPs that are as comfortable as the APP2s, I'm done.
Try using a third-party ear tip. I've had good success with the Comply Foam medium size ear tip.

I really can't think of a use case for the cameras if they are infrared outside of it being used for gestures. Are people really going to want to use gestures, especially in public where you are walking down the street swiping your hands through the air to change songs or increase volume? It will be very interesting to see what Apple proposes as the use case for the cameras outside of gestures.
