what to know about an unlocked iphone

hi, recently got an unlocked and jailbroken iphone. i dont know much about it such as if i plug it in to my comp will it then lock the phone or mess it up? or if i add stuff to it i-tunes will that screw it up? thanks for the help.

When you plug it in to itunes it will pop up a box saying theres a new firmware update for your phone version 3.1.3, would you like to update?
Make sure you click no or cancell and check the little box that says dont ask me again.
Everything else you can do without a prob just make sure you dont update the iphone firmware.
