What should I replace this year? iPhone 5 or 4/5 year old 17 inch windows PC. It's thick and heavy. I didn't see a point of replacing iPad Air as it still works fine, is new & I like it.

I don't think anyone on this forum could make the decision for you, especially concerning two very different products and not knowing your usage of either. Just replace whichever one you use most often or you think is in the most need of replacement.

Whichever one you choose, I'm sure it'll be quite an upgrade.

I've never used a MacBook before so not sure what that's like.

They're right, it all depends on how you use the devices and how they're working for you.

If you're hesitant to make the switch to a Mac, I made the transition in 2009 with a 13" MBP that I still have and it runs like new. I've upgraded the memory and transitioned to a SSD, but otherwise it's a six year old laptop that runs great. I never had a PC last more than two years. I'm quite happy to have switched over.

That having been said, if you do anything work related on your laptop that requires specific software, etc, do your homework. My wife wanted a Mac for a while, but was working in real estate and none of the software she was required to use by her broker and agency was available for Mac.

All the PCs I've ever owned have all lasted me at least 5 years.

It really depends. Are you the type of person who lives on their phone or do you use your computer for hours on end daily?

I use both. The phone less so increasingly as I prefer my iPad for its bigger screen.
