This is a dumb question but can I use any AT&T phone after I sell my 3G to wait for the 3GS to come? And when I sell it do I take my SIM card out?

Take your SIM card out, restore in iTunes, put your SIM in any ol' AT&T/unlocked phone, and go on with life.
