Hi everyone, long time reader first time poster- you guys are a fantastic community!!
I'm from Australia, I was wondering if anyone knows what to wear on the 1 on 1 Apple Store interview? (the one after the career seminar).
Any help or tips from people that have been through the application process would be fantastic!
Thanks all!![]()
Actually, for something like this, you can still dress up but not too dressy. I do this sometimes at events that I go to that specify casual clothing and always got away with it.
Wear a form fitting jeans, not skinny jeans. The jeans must be form onto your body and allow it have room for you to pull it up from the bottom. And most of all, it has to be the correct height, if the jeans are too long, then it's a disaster. There will be too much fabric showing in front and you will be constantly stepping on your pants. Sure, you can roll it up, but doing so doesn't make it. Seeing the original seam of the jeans is important. I get mine tailored (for free at Nordstroms) and the tailor always puts back the original seam, it's as if the pants came at that length. Try getting a dark wash, must solid all around and no fading. A very deep blue or black even.
Next, the top. Wear a t-shirt inside that will you cover up with the button on up shirt you will be using. So, color is only what matters. Put on a nicely designed shirt but nothing too distracting and one that will blend with your jeans and inside t-shirt.
For shoes, wear black so it will complement the jeans. However, the shoes have to be a slip-on with no laces. For the belt, if you choose to wear one, it has to be an in-style one that is thick with a large buckle (not the trucker or whatever buckle) I mean the whatever the thing is used to hold it in position. Make sure you get the right belt size, you only want one or two holes. Belts are usually one size up from the pants you wear.
For jackets, coats, etc. Always use something that is in style. Subtle, dark colored that goes along with everything. It's very important that everything matches. Make sure it is the correct fit and no loose fabrics. If its a zip-up, do it. However, take it off when you are interviewing. It probably best to wear a thin sweater.
This is just a suggestion. This is how I dress when I go to places that you need to dress up to. I've never had a problem.
