with all these threads on cases (probably half started by me), I'm kind of curious to what types macrumor members prefer as there's a wide variety of models out there catering to different needs. :apple:

Back shells, Folios, Rotating folios w/landscape/portrait modes, keyboard combos, etc

I have Lexington from incipio(folio with strap) and a crazyondigital 360 folio case. I love the 360 case, def perfect for me, this one was cheap but really good quality(bought on amazon)

You forgot "back shell only, no cover is needed at all" and examples like the Monoprice Premium Polycarbonate and the SwitchEasy Nude.

I've decided the best case out there is AppleCare+.

I used to use invisible shields, snap ons, leather portfolios and bags but in the end they all feel like they get in the way more than they protect. These are supposed to be thin devices but we are thickening it out of paranoia. So now I'm just going to go for AppleCare+ as my primary protection and my old Smart Cover mainly because I like how I can roll it up for tilting.

Skins are nice. Smartcover and complementing leather skin.

Occasionally carry in a neoprene messenger pouch.

I prefer a smart cover and naked back. I do keep a Brookstone cover with built-in keyboard that I occasionally use when need to do a lot of typing or editing.

glad to see most people chose folio case just like me. Smart cover is just overrated, and it's a joke for people who bought it to lock it with a back case. Just get a folio case with smart cover feature.

Well, most folio cases are just way too bulky... I bought a Devicewear Ridge Folio type case, and was surprised how much bulk it added to iPad comparing to using a smartcover and a locking backshell... Even though function-wise a folio would be easier to use, but I just can't live with the bulk ><

For my iPad 1, I had a rather nice carbon fibre look back shell, which was light and thin but protected it well, it also had a slight ridge on the front face so I could put my iPad down face first without risking damaging the front. (we have Maine coons and I'd prefer they walked on the back of the iPad rather than the front on the odd occasions it's left within reach!)

For my new iPad I've gone with a Beyzacase Executive ll in black, I do find the flappy bit rather a nuisance, but have given up on finding a back shell as good as my original one for the iPad (for now). The Beyza is light and thin and does look classy so I'll be sticking with it for while I think :)

I have:

iCarbons back skin
iBlason back cover
black leather smart cover
generic screen protector
All carried in a Brenthaven sleeve

As well as a generic looking folio type case when traveling

I'm done with this finding-the-perfect-case crap now. I'm sure something else will come out that I want to get it but screw it, I'm done.

I am really torn on this. I keep switching between the STM Grip and a ZUM Ultimate with a Smart Cover. Not sure which I like better at this point.

I love my book book case, but I have been using the otterbox with the screen protector mod and it's great. Super protection and a clear screen.

I love the smart cover.. But want a hard shell. My Macally hard shell 'locks' the Smart Cover in place.. And this is the perfect combo.
