Need a choice for those that use nothing at all. That's not me, btw - but suspect the numbers are large.

For me, having mostly used a TPU back cover on my original iPad was originally going to go without for the new iPad. First I decided that I wanted a skin for the back just for protection from scratches & to match my MBA (carbon fiber). Then I ended up ordering a clear TPU case primarily because I find it makes the iPad easier to hold. Without it the edges a little sharp - making the iPad uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. It also makes it easier to grip - particularly when carrying with one hand. In addition, I have a folio case (was for my iPad 1 but fits the new iPad) that I sometimes use for travel etc.

Everyone's use patterns and needs are different and for me the smart cover never made any sense. At home my iPad is nearly always right next to me in a stand on the coffee table or on my desk. If I want to grab it to look something up or check email, I don't want to have to hassle with a cover.

I am really torn on this. I keep switching between the STM Grip and a ZUM Ultimate with a Smart Cover. Not sure which I like better at this point.

I always wondered, out of those jillions of cases you review, which one you keep for yourself for your main use, and apparently its the STM Grip and ZUM!

what about for your iPad 2 days?

I tried a folio and couldn't stand it..

Ended up with same setup as last iPad.

skin and smart cover.

The smart cover i like to remove half the time and i just don't want to scratch it all up.. and with carbonfiber skin now my iPad looks pretty awesome too.
