Hey guys and girls! I have to admit, I'm not usually lost on things like this but.. I cannot wrap my head around which dock I need. Do I really need a (£280ish) dock?

I have a 2021 Macbook Pro 14" which arrived yesterday. I have 2 monitors, 1 will take HDMI and is 1080P and the other is 1440P 144HZ which will take either display port or HDMI. I use these for a PC and want to pop the MacBook in. Other than this, I'll have a mouse and a keyboard. I think I understand that I need a thunderbolt 4? (not 3?) to power two monitors this way. Am I right in thinking this? Could I get away with anything cheaper e.g. a cheaper dock and pop one monitor straight into the Mac? Bit loathed to spend quite so much if I can help it but not opposed to it 😆 I've tried looking at other posts but can't really understand everyone's use case.

I have one of these (dual HDMI version) for my 2020 Intel MacBook Pro:

It works really well and should work equally well with your new machine and displays. Don't worry about it being Thunderbolt 3, the connector is the same as the Thunderbolt 4 and it will work.
You're the best thank you! Will I be able to get 1440p/144hz out of this too for the one monitor? 🙂
