1. Brand: SanDisk
2. Size: 64GB
3. I've had it about two years
4. No problems but see below
5. Price was probably about $50
6. Didn't even pay any attention to the type of memory

I bought this on a lark. It was cheap at the time, with most selling for over $100. I thought I'd experiment with it and move the OS to the SSD and then use an internal HDD for everything else. The fact is, 64GB just didn't cut it because of size, so I went back to using my Hitachi HDD. The Hitachi is one of the newer ones, and to be honest, it's fast enough for my needs. I'll probably look more seriously into an SSD either when the HDD dies, which I don't see happening for quite some time since it's fairly new, or when they become cheap enough that I can get a big one. I'd like 500GB at a minimum. Right now one of them costs more than my system sells for used.

For me:

1. Intel 535 Series
2. 240GB
3. Nearly New
4. No problems
5. Ran about U.S. $100
6. MLC

For Customers:

1. Intel, SanDisk, Samsung, or Toshiba
2. Varies with customer needs. If it's being put into a Fusion we're building for them then usually we'll go with a smaller SanDisk, like 120G. We used to use 64G but they're becoming harder to find, and the prices are dropping so much why hunt for a tiny one?
3. Always new of course
4. A long time ago we ran into some problems with Corsairs and some of the early OCZs, so we don't use them much any more.
5. Price varies with size
6. Prefer MLC if possible.

SanDisk that I got about 2 years ago. I think it was one of their first because it didn't say anything on it other than SanDisk SSD. Size was 120GB. No problems. I don't know if it's MLC or whatever and don't care as long as it works. My OS, by choice, is Snow Leopard so I'm using Trim Enabler with it.

FWIW Trim makes a performance difference of night and day on the unit.

MacInTO, what year MBP have/are you going to put the Corsair in? There's been a couple of threads where Corsair drives with a Phison controller did not work with older (2010 and earlier) models and the OP went silent after the initial post. It would be good to know what your experience is (if it is an older Mac).
Hey sorry, I thought I responded to this.

I did try it briefly in a 2008 13" Macbook (Pro) and it worked fine. I also tried it in a 2011 13" MBP as well as a 2012 15" MBP.

Micron/Crucial are the same company. Crucial is their consumer oriented entity.

If you've used Crucial SSD's, then you've used Micron.

I watched the Intel keynote for that announcement last year. Lots of dogs and ponies were present. Much bravado and back-patting was had all around. It was festive (for a dry Intel keynote presentation, that is.)

1. Brand: Samsung 840 Pro
2. Size: 512GB
3. 2 Years
4. No problems
5. About $400 (in 2014)
6. MLC

Installed in a Late 2011 15" MBP. Amazing increase in performance. I was using the Trim hack until Apple allowed it to be enabled via terminal. Still running great and I've always used Trim since day 1.

1. The brand - Crucial M4
2. The size - 125gb
3. How long you've had it - more than 4 years
4. Any problems, and if so, describe them. - Nope
5. Price paid (optional since the prices have been going down) - I think I paid USD 180
6. Did the type of flash in the drive (SLC, MLC, TLC) have any effect on your purchase? - No because I wasn't knowledgeable enough back then but it will be a consideration if I were to buy another one.

I made previous comments but forgot to add mine:

1. Micron M500 Series
2. The size 240GB
3. I've had it over two years
4. No problems
5. When this thing came out it was supposedly "cutting edge" and I think it was between $150-$200
6. One of the reasons I went with this was because of MLC.

By the way the Samsung's have what's called TLC but if I'm not mistaken it's not really the same type of TLC used in lower cost drives.

I just tried the same SSD (Corsair Force LE 480GB) in a 2009 13" MBP (2.26 C2D/4GB RAM) and it didn't work. It froze when booting up. I also booted from an external and it could find the SSD but I couldn't access it.

MacBook Pro
PNY 1311
it is very fast up to 8gigs (write 545 read 575) then it hits the brakes, It fine for me, my MacBook boots up in 13sec from 52sec using the old HD. I don't do any heavy computing and I'm very satisfied with it.
