iPod What was your first iPod?

My first was 5gb gen 1 ipod that came in all the colors you wanted as long as you wanted white and people would ask, 'what is that?' Sold it to get Gen 2. At one point I was stopped by airport security who wanted to know why I traveled with 3 ipods. Hey, one for video, a shuffle for walking, and a nano because it was cool. why not?
 
mine was like the first gen of the iPod Video, it was 30GB and Black, gave it to my dad when i bought the first gen 32GB iPod Touch.
 
First generation 10GB. When I read about the iPod when it was released, I dubbed it the "answer to all my problems" (i.e., an old, decaying collection of mix tapes - and I do mean "tapes"). It was everything I could have hoped for. The fact that I had to switch from PC to Apple to use one turned out to be an incedental, but fabulous, side benefit.

I actually got a rebate from Apple when I bought it - it's been a long time since Apple had to give rebates to move iPods. Of course, I think it cost $600.
 
my 1st one was the 20GB iPod photo. that thing is a brick compared to the standard today. i sold it to my english teacher and then bought an 80GB iPod video, and now i have the 160GB classic
 
3G 20GB iPod... I bought it solely to listen to Howard Stern that I was downloading (when he was no longer on in Toronto) because I was tired of continually burning new mp3 cds.
 
2nd generation 8GB iPod nano. It's been packed back in its box and collecting dust since I got the original iPhone.
 
My first was a 4gb 1st Gen Green iPod Mini with a battery that died out in nine months. My second was another green mini, third was a 30gb 5g video, fourth was a 16gb 1st gen Touch (now my dad's), and fifth (current) is a 32gb Touch! As for other family members, collectively we have 3 iPod 5g 30gbs, 3 iPod minis (all 4gb-two green, one silver), 2 iPod nanos (one 1g 1gb black, one 3g 8gb pink), 2 shuffles (both 1g 512mb), and 2 iPod touches (one first gen 16gb (still kicking and almost 1.5 years old!) and one 32gb 2nd gen) My iTunes library grew from an original 300mb (on a 20gb Dell Optiplex) with the first mini to 110gb now (on a MyBook external drive attached to a 20" iMac). As you can see, the iPod got me hooked on Apple products. We now have an all-Apple network (two Airport Extremes, one Express-all N) with two macs, and two (work-provided) PCs.
 
First generation 4GB white iPod Mini.
Then, a blue iPod Nano 4GB, one of the annodized aluminum ones.
Then, I got a 30GB black iPod Video.
Then, an iPhone. =]
 
best gift I ever got. my mom bought me and my brother both an ipod photo 30GB when they first came out. I was floored.
 
3G 40GB

I still think it's the best looking one with the backlit red buttons, but the screen makes it look like something from the 1980s campared to the latest. Although that does give it a certain charm now.

8gb 2nd gen Nano, I was waiting for gapless play back to appear. Once it did I sold off my Hi-MD MiniDisc recorder (still kept my original MZ-1 though).

Sold the 8gb before Christmas for £50, partially funded my new in-ear headphones :)

Still my favourite looking iPod. I was annoyed when the video came in black, since up to that point the only black iPods were the fairly rare U2 editions! :D I bought mine as an ex-display model for a big savings, otherwise I never would have shelled out the extra for the U2 one... but it sure did look good. :)

Harddrive died on it, sadly. I've still got it somewhere... might install a new HDD and turn it into a portable FireWire drive sometime. :D
 
3rd Gen (refurb) - 10GB - got it for Father's Day one year. Replaced it with 1stGen 8GB touch right after they were introduced. I know, I downgraded in disk space - but major upgrade in features! I never carry my whole library around w/me anyways. Just the really good 5-7GBs.
 
A blue 6GB second generation iPod mini. I got it in February 2005, so it's almost exactly 4 years old.

Ipod nano 2nd gen 8g - silver

I was always a mac head and was interested in the ipod, but it seemed like everyone had one and more than half of them did not even know anything about Apple. Some who I spoke with did not even know that apple made computers at the time. I guess one thing I liked about Apple was kind of the small underground family feeling, kind of like you knew a little secret that the majority of the PC world didn't really know or understand. The ipod created this small gateway to the imac which led to the Mac Book popularity and now our little underground family is not that underground anymore. I am starting to get used to the larger family, but I just hope the care and details that have long gone into the Apple brand continues to lead the way fearlessly. You gotta love :apple:
 
When the nano's first came out, I had to have one. I bought two, engraved.

Still have 'em both.
