Did I read this correctly? 5th birthday? Nice!!

My parents wouldn't get me a gameboy at 5...and definitely wouldn't get me a phone that plays games and cost them monthly

10 years ago, this was my mobile phone too. I had 2 of these, then a samsung that I can't remember the model name. The samsung I had in probably 2003- it had a LED indicator light and you could change to color of the light based on what notification you were getting or who was calling/texting you. Something the iPhone still can't do haha. Not like that old thing even compares to an iPhone, but it's still kind of funny to look back and remember how convenient that was knowing I can't do it now with an iPhone.

I must admit I have had so many phones that I can't remember them all. I did get my first which was the Nokia w/ antenna at 15. LOL Every since then I got a new phone every 3 months untill I met my match which was Iphone 3g. Since I have gotten the Iphone I have kept my phones for a full year.

If iPhone never existed, I probably would have no problem going back to Nokia. They may not be popular in the U.S. like they are outside of it, but Nokia just seems like a solid brand even if many of their phones aren't as aesthetically pleasing. For me, reliability > design. A pretty phone is a paperweight if it isn't reliable or practical enough. Luckily, iPhone 4 covers it all. It is my #1 fav phone ever, but who knows after a few years? I used to say my Sanyo and N82 would always be my favorites at the time they were my main phone, but they eventually got surpassed. The collection keeps growing.

I remember when I was using my N82 & iPhone 2G, I would talk to my gf normally for 5 hours. The iPhone 2G had twice the talktime on 2G, but would get hot and start to echo after 5 hours. My N82 maintained its clarity as my gf told me. Just dependable as a phone. There were trade-offs. Of course after 2 years, the batt life on the N82 got much worse and the indicator was never accurate. It would show full battery after a full charge and then the low batt warning sign out of the blue and within a day. The iPhone 2G still maintained a 80% charge, but it also crashed alot more.

I do miss those Nokia phones though. Had to sell them. And I wished Sanyo (Japanese) didn't just make CDMA phones. I know Japan is CDMA-dominated, but I would love to back a Japanese company like them considering Sony tends to let me down alot as of late. And this decade (2010-2019), iPhone 4 was my first for it and my 11th phone overall. Matched my pre-order #. Call me a cell phone enthusiast, but I may just plan to keep all my future phones since they are all pocketable PCs in our hands now. I will probably get fewer phones in this decade, but would like to go for top quality.

By 2015, I want to own a phone for all the top 4 major smartphone OSes - iOS, Android, WP7, & BlackBerry. 1 down, three more to go! Then by 2016, go back to iOS with the iPhone X. I can always experience some new and revamped iOS' goodness with an iPod touch anyway. What I like about Android and WP7 is they can offer more variety in form factors and design.

Ten years ago in 2001 I was using my very first mobile phone...

And it was...

Nokia 3210 :D

Ah the sweet sixteen memories :p

I was using one of the really old green screen Nokia's posted in this thread. Now I'm using a Touch Pro II while I wait for the iPhone 5 launch.
