A well-priced Mini would clean up in the Christmas market - I could easily make a case to myself to buy one.

I like the Mini, but would only upgrade my 2011 model if the iGPU were able to match current mid-range AMD laptop dGPU performance, e.g. minimum of Radeon Pro 5300M levels.

Although very unlikely, I hope for the 16" MacBook Pro to be one of the first Apple Silicon products to be released. I want to make a leap from low end to high end computing power, because I'm about to start video editing, and since I only change my mac every 10 years or so I want it to be future-proof. Ideally, I'd like a 16" MacBook Pro, with 30-ish GB of ram, an 8 (or more) cores CPU and a 4 or 8GB GPU. 500GB storage would suffice.
Needless to say, I hope this configuration will happen to be cheaper than the actual 16". But I have little hope for this...

I will purchase the first ARM notebook Apple releases - MBP or MBA. Haven't kept up with the rumors much, but I hope this November event features a laptop.

Yeah, that's what the keynote should be about. And it's highly likely that MacBook or MacBook Air will be the first ones to be released.

A nice ultra thin iMac with micro led screen , no fans needed

For high computing power, fans are still needed, even with an A14 processor. That's because the Mac configuration for that SoC is gonna be way more powerful than the new iPad Air and iPhones SoCs, hence the need for a better cooling system.
But sure, in the future we'll start to see more and more fan-less Macs. Just not yet.

I've only just got a new Mac mini so don't need a new main mac for a few years but my chromebook pixel is ailing fast so i am hoping the new ARM macbook rumours are true as that sounds like the ideal replacement...

I want to see a return of the Cube...!

Mac Pro Cube

48 P cores / 6 E cores / 96 GPU cores - CPU & GPU Chiplets on interposer / System in Package (SiP) design
HBMnext Unified Memory Architecture - 64GB / 128GB / 256GB / 512GB
NVMe SSDs (dual NAND blades) 2TB / 4TB / 8TB / 16TB
Eight USB4 / TB4 ports
Two 10Gb Ethernet ports
One HDMI 2.1 port
Four MPX-C slots (for use with asst. MPX-C expansion modules)

Apple MPX-C Expansion Modules

NVMe RAID Storage Module (Quad NAND blades) 4TB / 8TB / 16TB / 32TB
GPGPU Module
FPGA Module
Neural Engine Module

The perfect personal workstation for a wide variety of tasks...!

I'm currently using a mid 2014 MBP. I'm really not a power user, so a 12" MB replacement with an A14X would do just nicely. If I can get one with 512 GB storage, i'll be all over it.

I have not read this entire thread but I see the opening comments expressed wishes of having mac mini as their first Arm based mac computer - what if Apple go that route first, considering the DTK is mac mini and that it has probably been in development since 2016, what if the mac mini pro redesign was a stepping stone in the direction of making way for Arm based Mac Mini Pro's first, so there is serious ARM muscle behind early machines, that paves the way to lighter ARM based laptops... I know the thinking and reports are light laptop on ARM first, but aren't the dev's going to want and need muscle machines to make the shift. I think so.

Maybe a very beefy but reasonable Arm based Mac Mini will arrive first, and will be used to iron out issue for all other computer formats down line.

'Course it's typicall, that when I need to update my hardware as everything I have is going to have to be Dosdude'd or replaced... What to do... now with this possibility of ARM based macs on the very close horizon, oh no! I might pick up the cheapest base Air for now and wait it out, or maybe hedge and get a base MBP...argh, who a dilemma, arm based mac is super exciting things Ive been anticipating for years... right now I can stick with MM 2012 Servers for pushing stuff, but they're not on the Big Sure list!

Adding to this after reading up a bit more. I can see there is also a lot of speculation around Arm iMac being released, what may be about to happen is a broader arm launch, big I know, but perhaps Apple have it in the bag and it's not such a big deal to roll Arm chips out across 2 or 3 of their main computer forms, or have an Arm option in each line. I think we will know soon enough.
Mac mini + 2/3 arm based macs.

I even got some of the mini marketing right too, if you noticed.

Never been afraid of getting a 1 gen. Got the (plastic) MacBook in 2006, and later the 11" MacBook Air in 2010 to replace it. Both of them served me well, the latter VERY well, as it was my main computer at home for 9 (!) years until a little less than year ago, when I got the 13" MBP with 2 ports (the 1.4 quad i5).

So, even if I have a (relatively) new MacBook Pro I'll probably replace (complement?) that with a ±14" Arm MacBook of sorts when that comes out. Not because I need to, but because I want to. ;)

Well, now we know: I ordered a 13" MacBook Air 8/8 with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.

I wanted it more and more the grumpier I got over the touch bar. ;)

MBA. Needed a laptop so I took the plunge.🙂

I am thinking hard about the Mac Mini* too, but will wait to see what comes with the M2 chips/machines and how I use the Air. My 2013 iMac keeps moving along so...

After seeing how great the first three Apple Silicon-based Macs are, my mind boggles at the prospect of a 16" MBP. It should be along during the first half of 2021. It will be my first Apple Silicon-based Mac.

I am thinking of an ARM MAC mini to use for my 4K television. Apple always sells trash Mac Mini’s, so I am kinda hoping that the ARM Mac mini will be somewhat descent.

I can live the ARM limitations for my 4K TV as I will use it as an Apple 4K TV replacement.
So was M1 Mac mini somewhat decent? ;)

If I didn't buy the 2019 MBP 16" I would get the first MBP 16" with Apple Silicon. If I can sell the 2019 for around $2000-2200 then I'd upgrade sooner.

Once the resdesigned body iMac 27" or larger display comes out in 2022 I'll put my pre-order down to replace my 2012 iMac 27"
