There's not a whole lot else they can add to the tablet. I feel like the air 2 is actually pretty future proof

Thinner and lighter still. Fast charge 24 hour batt. Less bezel. Water sealing. 256gb. 4K video. 4gb RAM.

No shortage of things they'll add. Anyone who thinks an iPad is future proof does not work at Apple.

Will it keep the same design? A9X seems possible, 32GB base model, maybe a camera flash? NFC? Split screen multi tasking.

Good grief! It has only been a day since the announcement, and you are already wondering about the next version?

The mods should nuke threads like this.

No retina HD.

Technology moves on. If everybody said there's not much else you can do with a tablet we would all be using ipad 2 today and gone no further. Personally I enjoy how technology moves fast these days.

Yep. This is all where it's going.

Not to mention split screen apps... that's the next big software leap iPad needs.

I'm already wondering about the next iPad mini since we basically got the 2.1 this time.

Truthfully not much at this point. I would say longer battery life with more efficient processors. Probably get 15 hours next year in the a9x. I would like to see the bezels be the same as the mini. Don't think they can get the air much lighter with current material and I don't see it getting any thinner. Only other thing I can think of is a 4k display but that's about it.

I think the mini is going to stay how it is for a few years just as apple sold the ipad 2 for a few years. It will be the low end ipad. I wish it got most of the air 2 updates but apple wants people to buy the air 2. I had a mini and rMini and loved them. I think a mini that was 6.1mm thin, a8 processor, under half a pound and the rest of the same stuff as the air 2 would be fantastic.

What the hell is retina hd? Think about the definition of retina by apple and get back to me.

The screen on my iPad air is just fine. I haven't looked at it and ever thought "ya know what this needs? More pixels!"

Im sure there will be things to add in the next few years. But at some point it just gets less and less exciting. We are at a point now where we can be pretty comfortable with what we have without rushing out to upgrade to the next one. Simply thinner and more pixels isn't going to excite anybody.

thinner, lighter, faster processor, better camera.... same s*** every year. lol.

What is more interesting is what Apple does with iOS in my opinion. The device is only as good as what the software allows you to do.

I'm hoping at some point with iOS allows users to select defaults apps and split screen multi tasking.

I hope not, I don't want the mini to go the way of the iPod touch. I much prefer it to the size of the Air. If by this time next year we still don't get a proper update to the mini, then I'll likely just relent and buy an Air. This is the first iPad cycle where I won't be buying anything. I went from the original, to the 2, then the 3, then the original mini and now use the retina mini.
