I skipped this year's upgrade cycle because I wasn't a huge fan of the price and the design, so I'm waiting for the next release.
What will the next iPhone be called?
Are there any murmurs in the rumor mills?

Blatantly obvious answer, but nobody knows. If I had to give you an educated guess, Apple Will likely Apple continue on with the numbering scheme. And no, they won’t attach the word “Pro” to the iPhone moniker.

Dozens. I would suggest visiting the front page of MacRumors, as there are rumors every single day about the iPhone for the most part, mainly about the 6.1/5.8/6.5 models that are set to be introduced in the fall.

iPhone X 5.8 (2018)
iPhone X 6.1 (2018)
iPhone X Plus

90% sure that's what they are going with. The plus will have a 6.5 inch display but won't have it in the name.

The 6.1 would not be a X series since it would have an LCD display. If they keep the X name for premium models, I see them using something like this

iPhone (6.1) - Entry Level
iPhone X (5.8)
iPhone X+ (6.5)

I don’t really think there’s anything _entry-level_ about a 6.1 LCD iPhone, given that it’s likely price around where the iPhone 8 is. I would say entry level would be something like the iPhone SE or 6S. The 6.1 point LCD iPhone depending on the price and storage, would be far likely be from anything entry level given its incorporating Technology like Face ID.

I feel that to avoid confusion, they will leave the X as a stand alone special edition 10th anniversary model and will be discontinued in the fall. The next models should be iPhone 9 (the LCD 6.1 inch) and iPhone 11 and 11 plus (the X design 5.8inch and 6.5inch models). I also feel that them going from iPhone 7 to 8 was the confirmation that they’re done with the S models.

Notched iPhones are the future. They’ve made that clear.

The rumours I have heard are the 6.1” LCD model will just be called iPhone, while the two sizes of oled model will both be under iPhone X branding. I don’t know what that means in practice, iPhone ten plus twenty-eighteen?

I think they're going to do something clever like they did with the iPad. The next iPhone will be called......

"iPhone"

Even if the only change was giving us a Plus sized screen and there were zero other spec bumps, I'd be happy. :) I love my X, but the thought of a Plus sized version iPhone with this OLED screen makes me salivate.

Obviously, there will be many more updates beyond the screen ... so I'm pretty much guaranteed to be happy.

At least No one is insinuating that it will be labeled the iPhone ‘Pro’ or ‘Edition’, as that seems to be debunked year after year.

Do not care what they call it, give me the big new 6.6" OLED and call it what you want!

iPhone XS? Could lead to an unfortunate moniker of ‘iPhone XS-ively priced’. Totally get the ‘X’ is pronounced as ‘ten’ but not sure the wider population sees it that way
