What will the next major release of OSX be like? There are no major big cats left... Unless they call it 'white lion' or something which will just be Leopard=Snow Leopard all over again. Or do you think the next release will merge with iOS?

Knowing Apple..

I think that they will wait for everyone to get used to the Lion and then make the new OS very similar to it, only take away the options and features which people regularly use and replaced them with crap the people will have to get used whilst trying to convince themselves how its is all good.. and how Apple knows what's best for everyone.

Of course, Apple will carry on about 4000 new features...

Mac OS X 10.8 ******cat, "You can have any colour, as long as its silver"..

Probably a lot like Lion, but with yet another way to launch your apps :D maybe with a little more iOS flavour thrown in.

My guess is that it will take away everything about computing except for complaining on the internet, since that's what people seem to use their computers for most.

Mac OS X Whinycat, "It doesn't matter what you think, as long as it's a complaint"..

There won't be one. You'll just be expected to use an iPad because using a touch screen for real work is so awesome.. right.

Whatever they do, I hope it is better than Lion.

10.7 is the only released upgrade I refuse to go to. 10.8 should at least bring back a save as; and not be so concerned for color blind people (no offense intended by that remark btw)

Then you'll just have to install Linux or Windows. You're not obliged to use OS X, nor to buy Macs. Heck, that's what I would do if Apple eliminated the possibility of installing apps without the App Store.

The next OSX version will be "treecat". A mac add-on will wipe your bottom for you when requested. ;)

The 10 main new features (of the 250+) will be:

  • Shake to undo
  • Slide to unlock lock screen
  • HDR on Photobooth
  • Removal of the startup bong. New bootscreen showing a white Apple on a black background.
  • Removal of the filesystem and finder.
  • Retina display support
  • App store improvements
  • Game Center
  • New clock app
  • Redesigned menubar which isn't actually a menubar anymore as it displays only the time, wireless signal and battery usage
  • Full-screen apps as standard.
