I found this thread on a Japanese message board and thought it was pretty interesting. What word or phrase makes you think of classic Macs, or classic Mac OS?

Some examples: Daystar, Ram Doubler, Radius and eWorld.

For me, it would be Extention Manager or System Software.

(and no wise-ass answers like 'reboot', please.)

Now that you mention sounds, the "eep" and "clink-clank" always make me think Mac.

Hmm, also "Dark Castle"

Rebuilding the Desktop
System Folder (versus just "System" now)
Control Strip
Sherlock

Extension Manager and Conflict Catcher (it functioned more like a "conflict creator"), for me.
X

For me it would be Hypercard.

I remember using a Mac Plus SE and I was always intrigued by that program, mysterious as it was.

Conflict Catcher. I used that thing all the time before my Mac OS X days.

Also, the username of the thread starter (5300cs).

Floating Point Extension

When dropping a control panel or extension onto the System Folder you´d get a message saying "This item belongs in the Extensions Folder. Would you like me to put it there?" Clever.

there was a little icon of a guy (yes Fred), with a poker-style visor on, it must have been for some assistant... never saw the icon on the system, but it was on the cover of the 7.5 manual, so it sticks in my memory

but most of all, problems. still, it's cool nostalgia now...

I'm such a black sheep; I loved At Ease (yeah, yeah, call me a dumb@$$) I also still use MacPaint sometimes.

I have Oscar the Grouch install on my PB100. Very cool
