I always hope that the top features are included in the next iPhone due but I understand that design and innovation is done in stages.

But, what would be the ultimate iPhone?

For me, right now would be:

-6.8” All Screen Display - 4K
-MicroLED with HDR10+ / Dolby Vision
-240Hz XtremeMotion Pro
-Under-Screen Camera (perfected, no image quality loss, no notch
-Camera able to shoot up to 8K 240FPS
-FaceID and touch anywhere TouchID (support for multiple fingers for advanced security or combination or Touch and Face for same Advanced Options)
-Quad Dolby Atmos Speakers (powerful speakers in each corner)
-No Buttons - all capacitive
-eSim Only
-Better WaterProofing
-5G
-WiFi 6 Support

-HiFi 32 bit Quad Dac with hardware MQA decoding from LG
-AMP from LG
-Mics from LG
-Camera software from LG
-Under glass back cameras from LG
-Nfc from Samsung or LG (credit card clonner) for paying anywhere.
-USB C with at least 5Gbps
Only then I'll move to Apple again.

Here's my list:
  1. Weightless
  2. Dimensionless
  3. Never needs to be recharged
  4. Impossible to break
  5. Impossible to steal
  6. Impossible to lose
  7. Flawless screen that can expand to any size
  8. Instantaneously fast.
  9. Zero lag for everything
  10. Costs nothing
For starters

No notch (faceid + in-display touchid),
no camera bump (phone can be slightly thicker to accommodate),
night sight that beats pixel
size between 5/5s/se and X/XS

Where’s the makes me a samwich option?

For me it is simple. Again this just my opinion:
Stronger glass display.
Longer battery life even if it means the phone is thicker.
Return of the headphone jack.
The size of the iPhone 6.
Metal back though I know that precludes wireless charging.
Return of a home button or get the tech down to put it under the screen.

That is it for me as I am but a simple person :)

1) A bezel-less SE-sized phone with the latest and greatest internals, or

2) An SE-sized phone with two displays, one on the front and one that rolls out into a Mini-sized tablet.

Depends on the timing of the question.

If you ask just before new iPhones are announced it'll be the most overtly positive rumored one in circulation.

If you ask just after new iPhones are announced, it's the last year's model.

If you ask around the time people are placing their orders it's the one they ordered.

If you ask just after people have started receiving their phones it's the one they couldn't afford but they'll never admit it.

...two weeks later it's the next year's model, because clearly there's room for improvement.

I want an iPhone to project pictures and videos onto a wall, hence a projector.
- Projector
-DSLR quality camera
-Hands Free Voice recognition Siri to text and I want Siri to read back the text replies.

This is it for now.

Apple (or for that matter no company) will make a perfect phone. If they make it no one will buy their next year's new phone.

The ultimate iPhone is 5-10 years away
We are now in a Transition Period...........
4G to 5G. Folding or bending IPhones
AR inclusion in Apps etc
Don’t worry about the ultimate it’s more important to see Apple innovate or improve what we already have

You also can’t make the ‘perfect’ phone because there’s always new technology that hasn’t been invented yet. The ‘perfect’ phone would require nothing new to ever be invented after it was released.

True 240hz refresh rate in 4K? Keep dreaming. It doesn’t exist.

Most people tv’s are not even high refresh rate, yet they believe the marketing that they are.

How about one that just got good, reliable reception and audio quality?
Oh wait, people don't buy phones for the phone anymore do they?

The iPhone already has reliable reception? That's very funny!

Amazing how in the country that invented the telephone, the most common phrase uttered in phone conversations is " you're breaking up."

Why is it funny? Because I don't believe there is any one phone in the entire industry that is reliable and has good audio quality! Not one!

Sorry for my sarcasm but as I watch the Apple event, I keep wondering how much the people in the audience are getting paid to oooh and aaah over idiotic stuff like the amazing games that can now be played on these phones, how amazing the camera and video recording have become (yeah they are now capable of competing with and maybe even bettering something that could traditionally be purchased at toys are us...with really poor video aliasing), and I listen to the part where they talk about how fast fast fast everything is now wondering which benchmark tool will be used to even detect the difference between the processing power in these phones compared to last year's, and how Apple (and everyone in the phone industry has done such amazing things). But I keep going back to the concept of a cell phone and to ME what is important. It's a phone for crying out loud (or at least it used to be). The phone industry keeps moving forward at light speed pace but in my opinion never seems to get any better. We just get more stuff that we never asked for and STILL the most commonly uttered phrase over a cell phone remains "you're breaking up"
