I have a Linksys Velop system around my house. I know wireless isn't the BEST for Time Machine backup but for a couple of MacBooks, it's the easiest. I'm assuming there are some error corrections though to make sure the data is safe.

I'd like something plug and play. I have open network ports and I'm pretty sure there's a USB port but not sure if it's active. I'd also like to use this as maybe a Content Caching for macOS (if possible) and some media sharing but that's not necessary.

Can I just grab a Western Digital My Cloud Expert Series EX2 Ultra, point my Mac to it for Time Machine, and let it do its thing?
 
So is the only wi-Fi 5 models? If so you best bet wud be using a Ethernety cable for the initial backup! Then after that is done then disconnect and o back on the wireless and the changes will not take to long unless you upgrade!
