I mean, yeah we all love Apple, of course I hate Microsoft (And Steve Ballmer for that matter). But what would you do if you saw him in, let's say the airport??

EDIT: I've posted a poll

Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers!

I dunno, I don't really have any animosity towards Microsoft and certainly not Bill Gates personally. It's fine to be an Apple fan without having to be anti-Microsoft.

Hey Bill. At least you tried.

Nugget; I agree. If Microsoft wasn't here, Apple would be competing with various *nix systems, and we wouldn't have Microsoft Office, which, frankly, is a good productivity suite. We need competitors, and something for the bogans to buy.

Stop him a for a short chat, then at the end, tell him how much money he made in that time.

Or

Sell your stocks. Now.

My thoughts exactly. We all like to pick on Microsoft, but Gates doesn't deserve *that* much animosity.

I think that's what you meant;)

Hahahaha

but that actually wasnt bill gates who said that. Still funny though.

Try and greet him and get his autograph.

Say what you want about Microsoft and their products, but if it wasn't for him and others (Jobs and Woz included) back in the 70s and 80s, we may not be anywhere near where we are today in terms of technology. Rather than be a jerk towards him like I think many here would, I'd thank him for his contributions to personal computing

I like this one the best.

Very well put.

Even though we're all "Apple People" we should still be able to appreciate what Microsoft has done for the PC industry (and where it's gotten us), as well as Bill Gate's personal philanthropy efforts.

So yes, I would shake his hand and thank him for everything he's done.

Bill gates is a very successful person, he does a lot of good work for charity. I would probably commend him on his good work, i am sure he does not care if i have an iPod/iPhone instead of a zune/zunephone. I know i wouldn't if i had $50 billion dollars :)

I'd laugh. And then probably try and get a conversation out of him and perhaps an autograph, because I still do use Windows and it creates a lot of business for I.T Technician's.

There's no option for:

Say hi and ask him how he is.

Asking for autographs is too tacky.

I'd probably think 'Oh, that's Bill Gates' usually followed by 'He looks shorter in real life' and then get on with what I'm doing. No big deal.

The greatness of anything is dependent of what it's being compared to.

Therefore because M$ is so poor (no antonym-pun intended) Apple looks great in comparison.
Its a love-hate relationship. Apple need M$ to look so great.

Simple

I'd ask him how it felt to be the richest guy in the world and still asked to step down as CEO from the company you helped create, and if you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently. We've never really heard the unsanitized version of his story.

i would be really excited. i'd probably not have anything to say, maybe something along the lines of it is great that you are doing lots of charity work now.

and in all fairness, i like MS, they make a powerful (not durable) gaming system, and they make really good mice.

Same.

I'm sure he doesn't want to be bothered constantly while he's out doing things.

I also see no reason to tease/make fun of him at all.

Well when I saw him at a thai food restaurant in seattle I just nudged my boyfriend and said "oh look, Bill Gates and fam" and we carried right on with our dinners. Big deal.

Substitute sister for boyfriend and you've got my reaction, too ;)
Paul Allen doesn't quite count the same way--neighbor of a kid I knew in school...so seeing him wasn't such a big deal. And yes, his catamaran is actually HUGE.

I probably wouldn't get his autograph, but that's the closest to what I'd do, if I could say hello, I would, it's not every day you meet the 2nd richest guy on the planet. If it came up I'd say I used a mac, but that I don't think Windows is a total rip either...

And you think he's going to tell you this version ?

I drove past his boat when he came to HK... WOW!!

Yeah but I think he would get the gist...

Admit it, in you're mind you were chanting 'developers' ;)
