What would be the first thing you buy?
Would you Invest in a company?
Would you like to start a company?
Own restaurants?
Save or go crazy with your $$$?

I personally would take care of my family first, no more rent or bills for my mother. Also Put cash aside for my little brothers college fund. Help my family back in Peru.
Then treat my self :p

Oh

I would also like to invest in companies like apple and Microsoft and buy stock. Or would like to start my own company starting with cell devices.

You?

Pay off the remainder of my student loans immediately (~$27k).
Put the pay off amount for my car into an account to automatically withdraw (~$14k). As it's at 0.9% interest, there's no real need to immediately pay it off.

Help with any immediate/pressing bills for my parents (few grand).

Pay back my family for supporting my dad financially during his long term disability/rehab (few grand).

Then just invest/save the rest, living off the interest/gains. Probably plan some sort of around the world trip, since it has been a while since I've extensively traveled. Nothing too crazy.

Nothing because I don't spend any money on the lottery :).

Jump out of an airplane. Wearing my bane mask. Or maybe build a replica of the Titanic and sink it whilst having a fleeting love fling on board.

It's hard to choose. The 'rich and famous' list has grown quite huge with ideas over the past few years.

Two chicks at the same time.

Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I had a million dollars I could hook that up, 'cause chicks dig a dude with money.

My...my...aren't we a classy lot!

..."chicks"...we've come a long way, haven't we?

And "chicks dig guys with money". Consider an alternative hypothesis..."chicks" dig guys who treat them like actual human beings.

Just a silly old guy opinion...:)

And just to stay on topic...I'd retire!

Of course I'd take care of family and friends but ever since my young cousin had leukemia and visiting him in the hospital, I'd love to use the money to help sick kids. In between threesomes, of course.

Id pay off my and my families' debt, get a house which is small, but luxurious, a new car is a must, but nothing outrageous showing off my money. Maybe invest a BIT in Apple. Other than that Id keep it saved up, quit my job and get something I enjoy doing, and live life worry free.

In the 30 plus years I've been playing Lotto, I've only won once, $37 to be exact. I still continue to play hoping someday I'll hit it big. If I win I'm going to move to a nicer neighborhood with a couple of acres of land with a small house right smack in the middle of it. I'd probably buy a couple of nice cars, but nothing too expensive. I'm careful with money now, and would continue to be if I won..

Without a doubt, pay off all of my debt, then take care of family. In fact, if I could just do that, I would be on cloud 9. Short of that, I never think about what else I'd do except buy a new (bigger) motorcycle and ride cross country.

1) I'd set up a trust funds and college funds for my kids with half of the money
2) I'd give a quarter of the winnings to my aged parent so they can live the rest of their lives comfortably
3) Buy the one lens I've been drooling over for the past 15 years the Canon 1200mm 5.6L. This thing ain't gonna be a sitting on the shelf looking pretty lens. I will haul it out for special occasions like the Olympics.:)
4) What ever is left goes to the Missus. You know the drill, "My money is our money, her money is her money."
5) Continue doing what I've been doing for the past 20+ years, work.

I'm a simply guy. Money complicates things.

1. I'd shovel a bunch away for retirement.
2. Move to where I like and buy a house, nothing fancy but I like openness and a pool and cool architecture. It doesn't need to be big or ridiculously expensive.
3. Enroll in Gnomon.
4. Buy a new Mac Pro when it gets released.
5. Donate what I don't need to charity and help out struggling family members.

EDIT: Also none of the above are in a particular order.

Hmmmmmm
I think I would need to know how much I won in the lottery first :)

Since this is a fantasy thread, I'll say it's a huge amount, say $300 million, lump sum 50%, $150M, after taxes $90M. Of course I'd check with a financial adviser whether to take lump or annuity. :) Again visit a financial adviser. I would try to give $1 million (gross or net) to each immediate family member, siblings, grand kids, maybe a trust fund if appropriate and a favorite charity. Since I've all ready scaled down to a smaller house for retirement, I'd consider buying a larger house as I prefer having more space. I would also consider either buying a second house in a cooler climate than where I live or maybe just go rent places for a month when going on vacation, whichever makes the most financial sense. Believe it or not, other than those things, and flying everywhere first class. I don't really seeing it change my lifestyle too much.

1) Pay off my student loans
2) Buy a nicer bicycle
3) Buy a crap load of books to build my own person History library
4) Go back to work

I'm sure my wife would want to use it so that we can visit her family overseas. Maybe buy a vacation house in Cape Town. Either on Blouberg Strand or Llandudno. Either is fine for me!
