Hi all!

I would like to preface this by apologizing for yet another "keep this or that" thread but I'm stuck :(.

After a sleepless night and my credit card catching on fire I managed to snag a 16GB iPad Air WiFi+LTE for about $530 (22% savings) and a retina iPad Mini 32GB Wifi-only for about $440 (18% savings).

Unfortunately, I was really aiming for the 32GB Wifi+LTE model but no such luck. The Air vs. Mini debate is not really crucial as they both have their merits and drawbacks and I would be happy to have either.

Just really curious what the MR community would do/choose given this situation and appreciate any feedback.

Humm, keep both!! Seriously if you can or want to keep only one, decide what you will use it for. If it is for games and video then the Air would probably be the better choice. If you don't use the LTE often then the mini might be the better choice. I have both and like both equally. Both are the wifi models as I have never needed the LTE and go for more storage for the extra money the LTE costs. I prefer the mini for reading and toting around, even though the Air is lighter than before it still is larger.

I don't understand. why did you buy one when you wanted the other? And what does luck have to do with it?

Seriously. I'm always confounded by these buyers remorse posts that solicit opinions from complete strangers who have no idea about your usage habits.

I'd keep whichever one better fit my needs.

In this instance it'd be neither; I'd have bought a rMini with LTE as that is the best fit to my needs.

Thanks for the replies!

No buyer's remorse here! When offered a ~20% discount on an iPad, you take what you can get. Not all models are going to be available. Anyone who participated in the midnight sales at the local big box stores know what I mean by "luck." As a grad student, I can afford an iPad, but EVERY penny counts :D.

I don't think 16GB is enough space these days especially if you're going to put any real games (Infinity Blade etc) on it. So given the two options you've presented, I'd keep the 32GB mini.

If the model you really want is 32GB Wifi+LTE, I'd return both "bargains" and get an rMini in that configuration. I believe that would come out to be about the same price as the 16GB Air you got on sale. Since you say Air vs rMini isn't an issue for you, if you are willing to spend $530 for an Air with less storage than you want, why not just spend the same amount for an rMini in the configuration you DO want?
