Look at the refurbished price, your old one is not even worth the $1300!

Buy the new one for yourself. Sell the old one and fully disclose what has happened. People love and will pay far too much for a Mac they can fix up over time. I would bet you will get close to half refurbished pricing of what one is like new.

Plus, most of the time water damage can be totally fixed by drying out the Mac after taking it completely apart and letting dry for a few weeks or even a month. Would be surprised if only water what time and not turning it on while being impatient will allow it to recover from.

Good luck.

The closest refurb on apples site to my specs is $1,700 The only thing it's missing that mine has is the SSD. http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0G02LL/A?mco=MTI0ODQ5Mjg

Look, take out the SSD then... simple enough! Seriously, you could remove SSD, RAM, and etc and still get half its value on eBay. Then buy a NON-SSD version at Apple.com and put the SSD in it. Simple enough, then your new computer would have all your old Mac's files and everything right on the SSD you transferred into it.

This is a simple situation, you want to make it into something more with an attitude like this.
