I'd like to see the CERTAIN mass flip flopping of personal(?) opinions once Apple rolls out one. All fold posts read like posts about phones with screens bigger than 3.5" and then 4" before Apple embraced phablet-size screens. Passionate arguments against those "abominations" with lots of reasons why "99% don't want or need"... UNTIL Apple rolled out their own, immediately flipping such sentiment into "best iPhone ever" and "Shut up and take my money." At least there was a few who first flowed through the "it's kind of growing on me" and even "I have to see one in person" posts before joining the new, bigger party. BTW- STILL looking for all the pants with bigger pockets and man purses. ;)

As soon as iOS/ipadOS runs on an Apple Fold or Roll or whatever it will be, it will likely transform into "best phone ever." It seems "we" just need Apple to show us one branded with an Apple logo and tell us it is... to have entirely changed individual(?) opinions.

As shared in some other threads about this- iPhone seems to have created some kind of "holy ground" position in people's imaginations. So think about this differently. What if an iPad Mini could fold/roll/transform down into a pocketable size? That's just as much the proposition as the other concept. All the benefits of a small tablet (with a screen much bigger than the biggest iPhone) AND all of the benefits of iPhone... in ONE Apple device. Sign me up. Seems like a new "perfection" to me and my opinion about it will not flip when Apple finally rolls out theirs.

Why will they make one when so many of "us" know this is a gimmicky, pile of ______ that no one really wants? It will be even more profitable per unit sold. Apple goes where maximum profits can be found... probably getting people waking up in the wee hours, scrambling to pay 2X or more for the "latest & greatest" flagship iPhone... then gushing about being lucky enough to get one sooner than others... then gushing about unboxing... then gushing with posts like: "how did we ever get by with those skinny screen iPhones?"

Personally, I ALREADY use Mini with cellular as my phone (with buds + VOIP app) too. The ONE relative benefit it feels like is most missing is pocket-ability. If it could fold or roll into a pocket size, that would be terrific. And all of these thread stories seem to be pointing to an obvious way to deliver an iPad in your pocket (which can also cover iPhone functionality).

Samsung last week announced its fourth-generation foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold 4, and as a result, some iPhone customers may be wondering about the future of a foldable iPhone.

Apple is indeed working on a foldable iPhone, but details about it remain scarce and somewhat vague. We've rounded up a few notable rumors below and want to hear from you; what would you like to see in a foldable iPhone? Let us know in the comments!
I struggle to see the value in the screen folding, though done well it would undoubtedly be impressive. Perhaps a clever hinge mechanism that brings together two separate screens as you open it and locks the pieces together? You'd have a line, for sure, but I wonder if you'd notice it over time, and it would be much more resilient.

What I'd really like to see is no fold, because foldable phones are a solution in search of a problem.

If foldable technology from Apple allows me to combine a tablet and phone into one device, then I'm all for it and will buy it.

I do believe apple will eventually release a foldable iPhone. Do I care about it? No. Do I want one? No. Will I get one? Yes. Why? Because apple makes things better and that's why they are usually the last to release something that others didn't perfect.

A valid check for $100 billion dollars made out to me. It’s not what I expect will happen but you asked what I would like to see.

Right now my interest level in anyones foldable device is zero. Maybe some app will change my view but I’m not holding my breath.

You keep saying that, but it's not true...

"It's not a line, it's much more screen RE to the left & right." ;)

If we can easily rationalize a relatively sizable notch, a line- if there is one- seems like child's play.

Good software. it doesn't matter if apple nails the hardware. if they don't have good software, the foldable phone won't be good. there has to be a reason to get a foldable phone and have more functionality because it's a foldable. it can't just be a bigger display iphone.

That doesn't prove anything about all and always foldables. It does show that they can get damaged, but so what, iPhones can too -- I have scratches already on my iPhone 13 Mini, and I've seen many iPhones with cracks.

As for my Flip3, I've had it for a year and no permanent damage at the fold part, looks just like it did when I first opened it. (yes, I have 2 phones, I always have 1 iPhone and one android.)

Note that my Flip3 doesn't have scratches after a year, unlike my iPhone -- the screen is protected better when folded and in my pocket.

Nope. No way. Absolutely not. Forget about it.

Prefer NO bump on the back. And as I do not use a case, I would prefer a phone that doesn't break as soon as a feather falls on to the screen. Does anyone remember when you could bounce a Blackberry down the stairs without worrying? To state iPhones are as a delicate as a snowflake in July is an understatement.

Just give me something like the Flip4 that runs iOS and I'd be happy as a clam. (pun intended)

Foldable but two screens with seamless gap. So like the Surface Duo, but better.

Solution in search of a problem........
The problem = not being able to fit an iPad sized screen in your pocket. The solution = making an iPad screen size being able to fit in your pocket via a foldable iPad/phone.
