Ok, so with the release of the new iPad Pro’s just around the corner (probably announced by Apple next month) I thought it would fun to ask what people would like to see in the next iPad Pro?

Would you like a glass back? Bigger screen to the body ratio? Different colours? What would YOU like to see?

Personally I would like to see the following:

  1. Face ID (I love it on my iPhone X)
  2. Less bezel - especially on the 12.9” they could fit more screen or reduce the overall size.
  3. Better battery life - I’d like the iPad Pro to match the MacBook Air’s 12 hours of battery life
  4. A way to attach the Apple Pencil to the iPad Pro (if Microsoft can do it why can’t Apple?)
  5. New colours
  6. 1TB storage option

Regarding the accessories I’d like to see the following happen:

  1. Backlight keyboard for the ASK
  2. Apple Pencil 2 - make it smaller at least
  3. New colours for the ASK (Surface range has different colours on their keyboards)

That’s about it for me, even tho I brought last years iPad Pro (I love the True Tone and 120hz screen, HDR) I’m looking forward to seeing what Apple have in store for this year, yes we have seen a few leaks nothing beats seeing it being announced :)

The biggest thing I’d like to see is a new design and Face ID - essentially the iPhone X design applied to the iPad, which does seem like is happening this year. We’ve been on the current design with chamfered edges for 5/6 years now, which for an Apple product isn’t really unusual, but it’s starting to feel stale, especially when using an iPhone X every day.

I’d also love to see more colour options, but I don’t think we’ll get much. Heck, been almost 3 years and the 12.9” smart covers are still limited to white or grey.

I know you mentioned battery life, but I have to say that’s one aspect that has always been excellent and consistent for me over the years (iPad 2/3, Air, 9.7” Pro, 12.9” Pro). Usually get a solid 10-12 hours, though most of the time I see upwards of 20 hours usage.

Also, when it comes to design, I think the stainless steel + glass look of the iPhone X is just gorgeous and would look incredible if scaled up to an iPad with small bezels, but I don’t see that happening, mostly for the weight factor.

Lighter weight without compromising structural integrity.

No notch (but it seems like this will be the case given those icon leaks).

Mouse/trackpad support (not going to happen as it'll probably cannibilize Mac sales).

Other than that the iPad Pro's are already close to perfection.

I really like the iPhone X design so I wouldn’t have a problem with the less bezels. The reason I mention about battery life is because when using apps like Pizxelmator and Affinity photo it does go down, nothing dramatic but I’d like to see 12 hours of battery life.

New colours would be nice especially for the 12.9” since it’s currrently restricted to a colour less than the 10.5” version (rose gold).

I also think a new ASK would be good, I do think they will announce a few new accessories along side the new iPad Pro, probably a new ASK keyboard, cases and maybe even a new Apple Pencil.

Yes - forgot that in my first comment. Would love to see backlighting on the keyboard as well.

And agreed re more power hungry apps.

Especially since Adobe have announced that a full version of the photoshop will be coming to the iPad in 2019, it could be a battery hog.

Looking forward to this years iPad Pro update, the new design should be really good, if it looks like the leaked CAD that appeared last week then I will be happy :)

Just purchased a 2017 12.9" in advance of the next ipad. Face id: no thanks! Love having my ipad off
to the side of my desk.

Face ID will probably work in landscape mode as well, initially I thought Face ID would be a bit of a pain with the iPhone X but it literally works every time for me, even when on my desk or even on my bedside table.

The current models are great as well tho, I love my 2017 version with the 120hz screen, if I do upgrade to this years version it’s already found a home with my mother.

Personally, I’d like an Apple Pencil that attaches to the device somehow, and without a case or sleeve achieving this.

Would also be great if the pencil would have better battery life, would be easier to charge and would not decrease the battery life of the iPad so much.

A display with a different coating that shows fingerprints less strongly.

A charger that fully charges the device on 2-3 hours.

Lighter weight and FaceID are the only things for me. Don't care too much about bezels.

Most of the things I miss are on the software side. Stock keyboard is all kinds of stupid by still not having support for prediction in my native language (by comparison pretty much all Android keyboards do it just fine) and not showing prediction in address bar. Inconsistent support for split screen in apps is really annoying. At the same time 3rd party keyboards are not at all optimized for the largest iPad Pro.

I'm conflicted because I REALLY REALLY want to see (and buy) an updated 12.9 (or new dimension) iPadPro and yet I have absolutely no reason to do so. :) My original 12.9 (2 years and 7 months old) is still functioning flawlessly. Damn you Apple!

I would like to see Face ID (personally find the Home button irritating) and some way to store the Pencil. But most of all, I'm looking forward to a redesigned Smart Keyboard and hoping for new case colors.

This iPad has performed splendidly for me and I can't imagine a better one, so I am hoping to be surprised.

For next iPP 12.9, I’d want...

- native video input
- I’ll take longer battery life if I can get it

Those won’t happen.

- more storage, always more storage
- maybe a place to attach Apple Pencil
- Apple Pencil improvements
- - shorter and fatter
- - on/off switch
- - longer battery life
- - better way to quick charge

Those might happen.

That’s it really for iPP hardware. Not much else I want from it.

No notch (but it seems like this will be the case given those icon leaks).

I believe the icon leaks showed no notch. [Oops, I think that’s what you meant.]

In light of losing Touch ID that’s what I’m planning on doing too (replacing 1st gen), but I’m going to wait for the gen 3 release to try to get the biggest discount on gen 2.

Perhaps a OLED screen, a (possibly) a built in projector with a 120 inch screen and 400 lumens, 1 tb ssd and different colors.

I want most all of the things mentioned above. One thing I would like to see, but do not thing it will change, is for Apple to either add a camera or move the camera to the side for better use while in landscape. I understand not everybody uses their iPad in landscape as much as I do. Using the iPad for FT and teaching live online is kinda awkward with the current camera placement. Even having cameras in both locations that switched/rotated like the software does would be cool. I don't expect it to happen. Just something that I would enjoy.

Bigger screen in smaller body for one

Interested how well Face ID will work flat on a desk

Do you have the iPhone X? That's most likely a way to compare how Face ID will work on an iPad while flat on a desk. Maybe the camera angle will be better on the bigger iPad. So not a perfect comparison. However, I find my iPhone X to struggle with Face ID while laying flat on any surface. I end up either having to move the phone, move my face or use the passcode. I'm a fan of Face ID but it does have some limits. Not really anything that would keep me from buying the new iPad though.

I hope for the following for whatever the smaller size is:

1. Bigger screen but not smaller chassis. I need the keyboard to not shrink back down again.

2. New design—the current one is still great, but I’d love to see them freshen it up just a little.

3. ASK improvement. I would love to see an Apple brand keyboard case that’s more fully featured, versatile, back lit, and not requiring so much origami.

I have made the decision that I will probably upgrade my 10.5, but if the design is exactly the same or there aren’t ASK refinements, I may wait.

overheating
throttling
screen bright light seepage
cracking speakers
excessive fan use
wrong delivery recipient
bricking after rebooting
keyboard malfunt- oh silly me , IPAD pro.....i thought you meant mbpro
as you were......

I want no increase in height of iPad. So a better screen ratio for movies and side-by-side apps, with no extra weight.
Also, the same cameras the new iPhones will get, with 480fps slow-mo.
Support for Pencil right from the edge of screen. (Navigating back in Safari for example.)
Chance to win a golden ticket for a share of the $1tn.
