Couldn't find such a thread in the last 10 pages.. So thank you GGJStudios if you do find one. ;)

So last week a Scottish couple won £165m on the Euro lottery.

It had me wondering, what the hell would you buy straight away?

Here is mine:

Brand new Canon 7D, with Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.

A few more MBP's/iMac's, etc ;)

A studio flat, so I can set up a small production company.

A bunch of more Mac Pro's to kit out the new studio, more camera's, lots of expensive software.

Haha.

VW GTI in red.
An apartment or house in the city -- nothing fancy.
A vacation.
A new mattress.

That's it. I have pretty much everything else I really want, immediately or otherwise.

I'd give some money to my brother and parents, but I don't think that's particularly interesting. ;)

Haha
1) Battlestar Galactica Blue Rays
2) New iMac with Apple SSD
3) Middle class home in the suburbs
4) that new flying car that was invented
5) Controlling stock in a gummy bear company to nix the red and green nasty ones
6) clarinet

:)

I'd buy all the Apple Stuff when it comes out, I'd buy a new car and a house and replace them as needed.

Other than that, I'm pretty content. I might even go to college for some needless degree(or a bunch if them) just to learn, because that's what I enjoy doing.

I would move into a huge, fancy penthouse in Beverly Hills - with hookers and cocaine included in the rent.

Or maybe I would just buy a bicycle. I already have all the tech gear that I need, but I could really use a new bike.

A Garage with a house attached to it ;) about 100 cars, tons of vintage macs and i would build a small race circuit on my land.

  • Loads of CDs and DVD-Audios, Blurays, a server to store them all as 1:1
  • Concert tickets
  • MBA 13" Ultimate, Mac Pro
  • Old macs + upgrades: iBook Clamshell, G4 Cube
  • University fees

yeah... think that's it.

First thing I would donis build a 3 ice rink complex. Corporate sponsor the hell out it and and try to make it as affordable as possible for those that can't afford the thousands it cost to play each season.
Set upna scholarship fund as well.
The guys I skate with would NEVER pay for ice time again.

I just bought the best machine I could possibly buy, albeit sans SSD. So, with $222 million, after various better deserving charities (aka not places like Red Cross) are found and pleased, I'd upgrade my HD.

Live in one of those environmentally-friendly house pods that sit on the roofs of old factories.

Get a MB CLS or a Mini, and a vintage Triumph like my grandad used to have.

tbh I don't really know.. I don't have a list of high-end things I absolutely love....

EDIT just remembered: I'd get me some Beats By Dre 'phones. Very nice sound for the dollar.

  • Definitely a Mac of some sorts, especially because I've never had one
  • Help the parents with the house payments
  • TONS of music
  • Clothes
  • New tv
  • Etc.

Last edited:
1) pay off the rest of mortgage
2) upgrade vehicles
3) upgrade 42" plasma to 65" or so, get a better sound system
4) buy a bunch of stock
5) buy all electronic toys I can think of
6) pay off debts for family

I'd start a new transportation program for cancer patients, and cut-out the Canadian Cancer Society entirely.

And maybe buy some stuff, that will wind-up owning me. ;)

Nice chunk of land and have a house built on it with a huge garage and tons of cars.

Go on a nice long vacation touring europe for 4 or 5 months.

Give some to family/friends

Invest the rest.

lol, you can't be serious

Wonderful fantasy, winning $222 million. Here in the US the best option would be a lump sum payout at about half of the actual winnings. Still not shabby. :D

Played the what if before, so here it goes....

- First, a good attorney and accountant!!! :)

- Pay off the condo here in the DC area

- Buy small condos in NYC, SF, and Chicago for bouncing between...

- Out fit the condos with the best of the Mac's

- Book a round the world cruise

- Two new Prius's for me and my partner

Hookers and blow. Duh.
hahahaha!

Had the chance to use Dr. Dre headphones, really liked them - but the cost is too high to justify. Now winning a lotto would change that...
lol, beats headphones are typically regarded as the worst headphones, especially for the price. It's all marketing and hype that you're falling for. There are much better headphones that can be had for half the price of beats. Monster is the most overrated and overpriced company since Bose.... but hey, spend your money on whatever you want! :D

I'd put all this stuff in a high-interest bank account and live off of it

And naturally, one of the rumored updated Mac Pros, with dual 27" Thunderbolt monitors. Plus a Scott Addict Ltd bike, a Scott 899 and a Scott Scale 29". As for cars, an SLS AMG and a M6 Coupe.

I'd also buy a condo, which would be much better than living in a crappy student apartment.

From actual winnings after taxes and lump sum payment.

20% divided among siblings and parents
15% to extended family
10% to good friends
15% to directly fund charitable causes rather than tossing money at a charity and hope they spend it well
10% to immediate purchases
30% to long term investments dividends would be used to live quite well as well as increasing capital so any children I had would get a massive inheritance.

With the 10% immediate I would build a large hobbit style house on a large piece of land. Set up a high end kitchen, grow my own crops, have livestock, horses, useful electronics, get a Ford GT and Ford F-250 with a Turbo Diesel.

hahahaha!

I tried them once, and I thought they were okay. I realize that for the price, contrary to what I facetiously noted earlier, they're not the best, but the sound is okay. And they're stylish.

I'd rather have those steampunk looking jobs from AKG though. :D
