I'd buy a house. I've been dreaming about home ownership and even drew up some house plans. It's nice but modest for a millionaire ;)

I would have a few cars (3-4) and not super extravagant ones.

I would probably build my house on a large lot and set aside money for taxes in house and land for a while. I'd want a pool and some bike trails.

Inside my house I'd have lots of technology and cool gadgetry not to mention a nice decor.

I'd put up enough money for my unborn kids' college and such.

Give some money to my parents and grandmother.

After that, charities, investments, etc. I'd probably have most of it left over. Could probably do most of what I wanted for under $5 Mil.

I would like to travel though (Europe, Asia, Australia) and maybe go back to school. Would even love to go to mechanic school as cheesy as that sounds.

After giving over 50% to the government (taxes), a ~$200,000 house, some decent furniture and allocate $1,000,000 for my business. Then find a quality investment for the rest and live off the intrest.

I will just put the entire sum in bank deposit and live of the Interest. ;)
Buying everything first = substantial decrease in interest ;)

I would buy a secluded mansion in the forest half way up a mountain that smells of fresh air with a hint of the sweet smell of the trees. The springs and summers are very sunny and have many blossoms and flowers. The falls and winters are very melancholy with colorful leaves that give way to snowy desolateness of winter. It has a nice big swimmable lake with one corner that has a natural hot tub out of rocks from a hot spring. The only way that one could get there is to backback 17 miles or drive though my secret tunnel that goes to a random forest service road. The deck of the house goes all the way over to the hot tub. My bed room has a retractable ceiling. Speakers would be placed throughout the house and some of the surrounding woodland so I could play nice forest music no matter were I walked. I would set it up so all my utilities were off the grid and could grow my own food and be self sufficient.

When I got tired of that I would go back to where people live and do random jobs that sound fun just for the entertainment.

Also, I would buy a crapload of Apple and other tech stuff.:D

1. $10,000,000 in sports cars (see my list in the perfect garage thread).
2. $25,000,000 on a house in L.A.
3. $5,000,000 on a house in Texas.
4. $10,000,000 on a place in NYC.
5. $5,000,000 on houses for my parents as well as my girlfriend's parents.
6. $1,000,000 for college/Medical and Law School for my girlfriend and I (school, apartment, etc.)
7. $4,000,000 new cars for the whole family (40 people).
8. $30,000,000 away for 3-4 kids (private school, college, grad school, cars, weddings, houses, etc.)
9. $125,000 for my perfect office setup (Brand new Mac Pro, 4 27" Cinema Displays, Maxed 11" MBA, 64GB 3G iPad 2, 32GB White iPhone 4, great desk, Herman Miller Chair, perfect DSLR setup etc.)
10. $25,000,000 for investing
11. $1,000,000 for traveling
12. $100,000,000 in an interest earning account

That still leaves me with $5,875,000 to spare.. Probably donate it to my college, places like MacRumors, or do something fun like go into an Apple store and buy everyone there 2 items of their choice.

spending $1,000,000 out of $222 million is not going to drastically reduce the amount you would make on interest, and would actually probably be more beneficial if you bought a house and cars, since you wouldn't have to worry about monthly payments.

start buying up property in Maui so Oprah can't have it all:p

Seriously though, I'd love to build a house with an attached state of the art recording studio. Hire on an engineer & producer and then give little known bands a chance to record

- A nice mansion in the countryside with a nice litel bit of land
- one or two flats in big cities, possibly london
- all the houses would have fully integrated networking, entertainment anD comms systems, lots of top-totty Apple kit everywhere (obviously) :apple:
- A Rolls Royce Phantom (for posh days out)
- A collection of different BMW M series cars
- An Audi R8
- A MINI John Cooper Works
- A classic Mini Cooper S fully restored
- a fallout shelter with enough food to last 2 years and a power generator, or if thats not realistic enough possibly a replica Batcave
- a small monkey and a pug
- i'd make our large upcoming wedding EVEN LARGER!!!! :D
- a mini moster truck racing track and paintballing in the county on my land (see first item)

My family and friends would gets lots too, as would charity and MacRumours!

i could go on and on!

Ex-BF's (well parents) house that was foreclosed on, I know it sounds creepy. But I really liked that house, just a nice simple middle class house. Would then have it remolded to my taste. New car, probably loaded out Fusion Hybrid and a Corvette Zo6. I would still go to college, still work toward getting a job at a bank. Live that nice upper middle class appearance.

Then have a nice weekend condo down in Miami on the beach, with a Ferrari and Ducati in its parking spaces. That only I and close friends would know about, IE the ones who don't beg for money; but if they ask for it, they pay it back.

The rest I would just bank and live off the interest and pay from my job. Would still be stupid rich to buy what ever I want. Armani Suits and Rolex/Omega for everyday of the month.

I honestly would have no idea where to get started with all that money. But, I like how you think! I would probably do the same after thinking about it, you planned it out quite nicely.
